Do quick verdicts favor the defense or the prosecution?

The conventional wisdom among lawyers is that a quick verdict means guilty and a long deliberation means acquittal, but I've seen many exceptions to that rule.

I know that juries may get a quick conviction but wait a day or two to make it look like they gave it some deep thought.
