The reason there are no more ‘bench’ seats is they would have to put in another air bag................. My first car had a bench seat. I was 6'2" tall and met my wife who was 5'2" tall. If we took a trip of any length I would have to sit in the back seat when she drove as the front bench seat was too close to the dash.
