Margaret Talev, president of the White House Correspondents' Association, opened the dinner with an address about the core of journalism.
"Real news is sometimes happy, heart-warming, or heart-breaking and critical or makes you angry. But we reject efforts — be it anyone, especially our elected officials — to undermine journalism as un-American," Talev said.

I was there, it was great.
I am so glad the President decided not to go! It has always bothered me, no matter which party, to watch the media suck up to government and vice versa. No President should ever go. They are free to have all the parties they want, just should’t have POTUS or other high officials there.
There is a reason why hard investigative journalism is virtually non-existent, and that is because they are lazy and prefer to rely on access to inside sources. Sorry you cannot investigate the government by reporting what the government tells you. The 4th Estate has been subsumed by the other three. The media allows themselves to be managed by deliberate “leaks” and deflections, and nobody wants to be ostracized for speaking truth to power.
The comedian ended her gig with this line: “By the way, Flint still doesn’t have clean water”. That was the best in your face zinger of the night and it went right over the heads of the media audience.
Ed Henry said this morning that the contrast of President Trump with the people compared to the media elite behaving badly was stark.

Honestly, these people do not represent us, yet they fill the WH Press Room. When do we get OUR OWN Deplorable Press Corps? Maybe we could have it MON-WED-FRI and they can get it TUE & FRI? Watch them freak out if that happened!
The funny part is when they feel that they have not been treated respectfully all they do is whine and yet last night a Sarah was being savaged by this awful creature they all laughed.
Their insides are showing and it is really ugly.

Ms. Wagner doesn't recognize that there's nothing 'high' about the insults and nasty garbage being spewed by her buddies in the fake media. They're not 'funny' by any definition of the word, either.
