It may seem pointless to us, but whatever assessment of the political ballfields you and I may make today is made from a condition rather different than before the election. Before the election, nobody thought Trump had the slightest chance of winning. Imagine a third party called the reasonable party generally Republican but much more Centrist than Trump. A party where Kasich might indeed be one of the more attractive candidates. Not to us, of course but to the reasonables. The deplorables vote for Trump and the reasonables vote for Kasich and his running mate Jeb. It sounds stupid to us, but there are people who are in favor of trump and yet still somewhat embarrassed to vote for him because he’s so outrageous. I would bet you that if Kasich ran a campaign on Centrist milquetoast values he could get 5% of the vote and be a trump killer. That’s all I’m saying.
