I must say, I have enjoyed watching such things as old Carson (Johnny) on YouTube. The humor is in fact racier because it leaves so much unsaid. I think what is missing (since Carlin, I posit) is elegance.

My favorite is the Toulon, Illinois farmer. The gentleman is hilarious and Johnny just does what he does best.

It's about the story and Johnny was a master at letting folks tell their stories.
