Teachers all over the country are going on strike. They say they want higher salaries and education funding and the tax increases necessary to pay for them. But theres a bigger motivation underlying the strikes mobilizing Democrats.
What do all of these strikes and protests have in common? They are taking place in states where Democrats are either trying to make gains or consolidate their power in this falls elections.
Democrats are trying to keep Sen. Joe Manchin in power in West Virginia. In Kentucky, Democrats are trying to retake the legislature and would love to oust Matt Bevin in 2019. In Oklahoma, Democrats are looking to build on their legislative gains in special elections and maybe even grab a Congressional seat. Arizona Democrats are looking to win the open Senate seat, grab the state Senate, and pull off an upset in the governors race. Finally, Democrats are fighting to retain the governors mansion, gain the state Senate, and grab a couple of Congressional seats in Colorado.
These protests are in line with other tools the left has employed to try and maintain momentum against President Trump and Republicans. Like the Womens March and the March For Our Lives, these protests and strikes by teachers are giving Democrats and the left an opportunity to mobilize voters and activists.
Despite the claims in the propaganda of #RedForEd, teachers are not underpaid and often enjoy benefits that are not available to most workers in the private sector. While we should be fair to teachers, we must be fair to taxpayers and not burden them with additional taxes.

Exactly, give them a raise in exchange for taking away their Cadillac DB pension plan, let them fund a 401k like most others.
Well, at least they picked the proper color for their tantrum.
The Takeaway: The people who are teaching your children are for the most part hard-line Communists.
Almost every teacher I know is a republican or an independent. Local teachers tend toward conservative values.
Exactly how many teachers do you know? And, how is it that you know all of their political positions? And, how do you know the political trend teachers in your area tend toward? And what area of the country is local to you?
In Arizona they have it all ass backwards. They forced the lowest income families to either forgo work for the strike days or to pay for daycare.
There was a visual not to be forgotten in Yuma yesterday. About eight redshirted teachers were sitting on the patio of a local muffin shop sipping lattes while the busy working public drove by at a major intersection. These "educators" are idiots and they have control of your kids.
Democrats have nothing to offer except misery.
Indeed. Further proof our education system has been taken over by the communists.
“They say they want higher salaries and education funding and the tax increases necessary to pay for them.”
I promise you, they want more money. I know plenty of teachers and most are conservative.
It is the education departments in all 50 states that are occupied exclusively by Leftists, and are always sticking their teeth into the necks of teachers.
Conservative teachers are being bullied and intimidated to follow along.
I was around School Teachers for many years they were all Rats except one who taught Business Admin the rest were committed Dems.
I’m a retired pastor in a relatively small town. We know EVERYTHING. Sometimes, TMI! :>)
“The Teacher Strikes Arent About Pay”
About making unions stronger?
‘I know teachers who are truly good folk, but have no political acumen to realize that they are being deceived by all the theatrics.’
I see...sure takes a lot of acumen to realize what walking off the job means...
People paid with public funds should not have the right to strike for higher pay. JMHO!
