Arizona -(Ammoland.com)- 19-year-old student, Yonsong Zhao, came to the United States from China on a student visa. As of January, 2018, he had been in the country for seven months.
As with many people, especially young men, he likes guns. In China, it is nearly impossible to access legal guns. Zhao set about learning what was necessary for him to acquire and legally fire guns in the United States.
Given the complexity involved, I am amazed that Zhao appears to have found the various rules, and followed them rigorously. It is well that he did. The authorities were watching him very closely. They may have done so because of the notorious mass murder at Virginia Tech in 2007.

Zhao was expelled from Virginia Tech immediately upon being arrested. I am surprised at the speed of his expulsion. Such proceedings usually take months, with appeals and due process.

On 26 April he filed a complaint against the police and Virginia Tech.

Zhao's attorney has alleged that police interrogated him without counsel, while he was in custody.

Zhao was finally granted bond on the 26th of February. He had been in custody almost a month.
The case against Zhao looks weak. His assertions of inappropriate behavior on the part of school officials, the police, and federal immigration officials all fit the evidence very well. The only assertion against him, that he inserted a legally owned 30 round magazine into his legally owned rifle, has no physical evidence to back it up. Video evidence, eyewitness accounts, and search warrant results all support his version of events.
People may not like the idea that foreign students can legally acquire guns in Virginia. If a student follows the rules, he should not be abused by the system.

For Zhao to buy a gun legally in Virginia, he likely took a hunting safety course and purchased a hunting license.
As he was *not* charged with illegally possessing a firearm, that is most likely the course he followed.
So isn’t this like illegal alien Mexican “refugees” applying for and using food stamps at the local supermarket? Why aren’t they being arrested?
I actually helped a chinaman here at work pick out a handgun.
He got a CZ. It was heavy compared to my 20 year old Walther P99.
I did not ask what his plan was upon being summoned back to the old country.

Yes, from the article:

The search for body armor and modifications to the bumpers of his car should make one a bit wary about his intentions.
That said, he shouldn’t be railroaded, but it sounds like that’s what law enforcement is trying to do. There’s also the issue of how law enforcement justified searching his internet history without probable cause.
I'm hoping he will take the idea back with him where it may further germinate.
China was relaxing it's totalitarian grip on power before Western Liberal Troublemakers urged people to defy the central authority and trigger Tienanmen square. I said at the time they set back the cause of freedom and democracy by many decades.

Alfredo Pareto is my favorite. Yes he’s a bit of a fascist but he’s primarily a mathematician turned Engineer turned politician turned philosopher.
Pareto’s contributed what we know call the 80/20 rule. 80% of the money is controlled by 20% of the population. Which by today’s standard falls short because it’s more 95% to 5% (subjectively). Pareto even writes a whole book about the subject of wealth, upper class, middle class, lower class and what ratio is needed to ensure a working harmony. We all can’t be rich, all can’t be poor and we all can’t be middle of the two. Scientifically there is a ratio to all 3 that maximizes society and it’s advancements.
Our Bill of Rights places restrictions on the government. It has been a matter of great debate as to whether or not that those restrictions extend to non-citizens. I say it should. Why? Because sooner or later the Libs will get around to defining citizenship based on adherence to Lib beliefs. If a visitor cannot be entrusted to carry, and thereby add to our community of self defense, then they should not be admitted into this country.
I was not even aware foreign persons on student visas could legally buy guns. I guess they have the same basic 2A rights citizens have. You learn something new every day.
Well, if you understand the Constitution it makes perfect sense, as that revered document doesn't grant you any rights, but merely affirms a few of the many rights that you already have. Of course it's been bastardized so much its hard to know anything for sure anymore.

Foreign student comes to the US, follows all the rules, gets screwed.

That is pretty much the case. I can only bring my firearms across the border if I have either a valid hunting license, or a formal invitation as a participant in a target match.
