Mr. Weingarten has done yeoman's work in tying up all the threads related to this case. I heard about it a while ago, but had no idea how the case was progressing. It appears that this young man spent a month in prison, before finally being granted bail. However, his legal ordeal is ongoing.

Again the leftists show their hypocrisy. They love minorities and illegal immigrants - until they don’t kowtow the leftist mantras. Then they string them up and hang them out to die.

At the local range, one can rent guns to shoot, even full auto or a .50BMG. I was unaware it was a crime for a non-citizen here legally to participate. Sounds like the PTB screwed the pooch on this one and are doubling down rather than owning up.

Yes indeed. He is a solid FReeper (screen name marktwain) and does a great job regarding 2nd amendment issues.

No crime was committed, but there’s no proof that no crime was committed? Is that what I’m seeing?

I'm not going to opine on whether this young man followed the law correctly or not. The lawyers can sort that out. But in general I think we should restrict gun ownership in the US to citizens and permanent legal residents. Maybe with an exception for those coming here to hunt. They could get a special visa.

Here’s the gunbanner’s plan. Sow as much chaos as possible into gun ownership laws. Throw common sense out the window.

So isn’t this like illegal alien Mexican “refugees” applying for and using food stamps at the local supermarket? Why aren’t they being arrested?

Yet a 7 times felon illegal migrant who has been deported many times took a police officers pistol and shot it on a public pier in San Francisco was a quitted from wrong doing because he did not “intend” to shoot and kill A 21 year old citizen who died in the arms of her father.

Double standards run thick with leftists.

In a very gun-friendly state like Arizona, also a very popular tourist destination for many Asian tourists (Grand Canyon), somebody could make a fortune setting up a gun range specifically catering to tourists.

It would need some new provisions in the slightly complicated AZ laws about foreign nationals and guns. But in a controlled situation like a range, the legislature would likely be amenable.

For the convenience of the tourists, the entire process could be in their native language, to be crystal clear and for safety reasons. (The last I saw, some of the restaurants near the GC have menus in six different languages.)

One of the oddities would be that while some tourists would want a gazillion photos for bragging rights, others would shun them entirely, and would want no mention of their visit back home.

People may not like the idea that foreign students can legally acquire guns in Virginia. If a student follows the rules, he should not be abused by the system.

Yup. That's the bottom line. This is supposed to be a nation of laws.

Just to add some data, he was also looking at bullet proof vests and such.

I was not even aware foreign persons on student visas could legally buy guns. I guess they have the same basic 2A rights citizens have. You learn something new every day.

Foreign student comes to the US, follows all the rules, gets screwed.

Wonderful example the government sets.
