I wondered how women ended up marrying men who beat them up, bloodying them, blackening their eyes,bruising them savagely.

It could not have started during courtship.

Come to find out, research showed the men started off with "friendly touches"---just like Tom Brokaw is doing to Jane Pauley.

The friendly touching then escalated.....scaled up to squeezing, then grabbing, then hitting and beatings.

Looking at that picture, I keep wondering if Brokaw is also a wife-beater.
