New Jersey is taking steps to join a dozen states in the nation that give driver licenses to undocumented immigrants.
Gov. Phil Murphy supports it and legislation has been introduced in both chambers of the Legislature. But more than that, the state's Motor Vehicle Commission is preparing for the measure.
The head of the MVC, Sue Fulton, told lawmakers this week the office has reached out to other states that offer licenses to undocumented immigrants to learn up on the requirements.
"We are aware of the governor's intent on this matter, and we're leaning forward in terms of learning more," Fulton said, according to a report from 101.5FM.

Take the applications and have ICE visit them.
Interesting. I have to show 6 points worth of ID to get my license renewed. I guess I’ll just leave that at home and tell ‘em I’m not a citizen next time. Oh, right, that won’t work for me, I’m the wrong shade.
And every illegal will be registered to vote at the same time.
Every accommodation for illegal aliens is a nail in the coffin of the rule of law.
NJ needs to get Real I’d compliant without extension.

Same here with me as well, especially in NJ.
Now, they have a program where you can avoid the wait at the DMVS to renew your drivers’ license.
I wonder if aliens will be able to receive that as well.
I live in N Nevada. The idiot legislature voted 2 years ago to let illegals have driver’s licenses.
That database should be shared with ICE.
However, MY UNINSURED MOTORIST coverage went from 28 % of my premium to 49 of my premium.
I drive a 19676 Chevy 1 ton truck & a 1979 Buick station wagon. My LAST ACCIDENT was Oct of 1966. Last ticket was for ‘seat bel’ & was over 15 years ago.
Thanks ALOT, legislature.
Beware of any state doing this.
The only UPSIDE is that perhaps Trump could demand the register of such licenses & ICE could round them up & end them home...out of the USA.
I can no longer have sympathy or respect for people of this country where 12 states allow this travesty!!
Citizens are supposed to vote, not potential enemies and freeloaders.
We good people allow other to commit this shameful atrocity of dismembering our great country and way of life.
We have been nonviolent up to now due to conformity, thinking about consequences to our families, and respect for the law. Does God want to us remain passive or to fight against today’s Amalekites and Canaanites?
In California they opened on Saturday just for the illegals for at least a month I believe when they gave out these licenses to them now we’re going through the real ID Fiasco where you have to go down and show your birth certificate ID so on and so forth to get a real license now
Boy that’s an old truck you got there I like old trucks
Anyone who didn’t think the new Governor of NJ was serious when he said he wanted to make the state into another California, you can now perish the thought.
Phil Murphy has the money to run for president in 2020-—and potentially win.
He picks a heartland Democrat like Steve Bullock, and they could win.
As a practical realist, I’d prefer (those not yet sent packing) to be properly licensed and insured. The problem arises when they tie voter registration to a DL application. Easy enough fix, different form and an altered license format for non-citizens. That makes me a racist, or an enabler I guess, depending upon who you are talking to.
It will be so much easier to vote, once they have a government issued ID.
Illegals provide proof of insurance, get their license, then cancel.
The ‘RATs just trying to get the Motor Voter Fraud Act to kick in in hopes of creating a “blue wave”.
I caught hell trying to get a driver’s license when I moved here to Texas. The Birth Certificate I’ve used all of my life had expired and I had to order a new one from the state of my birth. Only cost me $85.00 bucks.
I've never heard of a Birth Certificate expiring. I thought that the only time that that happened was when a Death Certificate was issued ... and, even then, it may still be used to vote in the Democrat Party.
