Her father could have been a Kibei, an American of Japanese ancestry who was educated in Japan. There were about 10000 of them and about 7000 served with the US military. Their service to America was invaluable during the war.
Most AJAs (like my parents) spoke Japanese as a second language and would not have qualified as a translator or in military intelligence.
Greetings to all at the Canteen!
To all our military men and women, past and present,
Astounding this brave man survived!
Howdy, Kathy.
Hope you’ve had a good weekend, and a lot of sleep. It’s THAT week again and you’re short one. :-(
Good evening, MS B...((HUGS))...a laid back day for you?
Nice weather?
Howdy, PRO.
Have fun with the pups today?
Welcome to the Canteen, aposiopetic....nice to read something positive in the media about our military heroes.
Thanks for sharing your story.
Too laid back!
I did not accomplish a thing today!
LOL

It was a nice visit with the pups.
The little guy whose named Gryphon decided he was going to explore under the back porch the other day and squeezed through a small opening and didn't want to come out so Robin had to break a piece of lattice off to grab the little sucker and pull him out. He went back under, LOL. So the 'lil guy is a real rambunctious trouble-maker.
I also took son out to lunch to Applebees to celebrate completing his 3rd year of College with a straight A average. We feasted.
Anything happen your way?
I gotta put this pic in Fotki!
Howdy, LUV.
Were you able to kick the cats out last night so you could sleep well and feel fresh this morning? :-)
Good evening, DuncanWaring....it is always nice to learn the background of things we see while out and about.
Good evening, Luv...awesome indeed!!
I can. Do you want it with the red tone or more toned down?
Howdy, radu!
I was able to get Peaches out so it was all good. Ginger doesn’t beat the door down to get into the bedroom if I close the door! LOL!
That lil Gryphon is sure a trouble-maker! He just isn’t slowing down, is he? Robin’s gonna have her hands full with him for a long time. LOL
WOOHOO on that straight A average! That was well worthy of a celebration today! Congrats to Zack!
A pretty quiet day overall but we had a little “light show” action just before sunset and I was finally able to get a few lighting pix. Been waiting months for this.
Yay for that!
I’m surprised Ginger didn’t go out, too, since she doesn’t like being in all that much. At least the rowdy one was out and that’s what counts.
Welcome to the Canteen, chrisinoc...quite the relative you have there. You must be very proud knowing his “story”.
And he takes pride in his work.
Thanks for sharing.
The red is from the lighting at a night club.
I dunno!
What do you think we should do?
Mike and I just touched bases and we lean towards leaving it!
LOL
Hey there Cat Lady!
Did you have a nice day?
