Connecticut’s legislature has passed a bill that would give the state’s Electoral College votes to the presidential candidate who wins the popular vote nationally.

The state Senate voted 21-14 on Saturday to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, which includes 10 states and the District of Columbia. The state House passed the measure last week, 77 to 73.

Article IV Section 4: "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a republican form of government"

If the government of Connecticut vitiates the Connecticut voters' selections for President and Vice President, and instead substitutes the voters' selections from other States, then the State is NOT being given a Republican form of government.

It is therefore incumbent upon the United States to overrule this violation of the U. S. Constitution, and guarantee Connecticut a true Republican form of government.

They should just pass a law that says they will give the electoral votes to the DEM, no matter what. It would be constitutional, and would save the expense of a popular vote.

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress

If every state passed this same law, every election would be a 100% electoral college landslide. In other words, the electoral college would be rendered meaningless, which is probably the goal of this sort of legislation. It is an effort to subvert the Constitution via the back door.

Imagine going to popular vote and having a recount. How long did it take to sort out Florida?

I foresee Trump winning both the popular and electoral votes in 2020. I will be glad to see Connecticut give their electoral votes to Trump

CT is trusting that voter fraud in a couple California counties will put the Dems over the edge every year.

From what I remember of 2000 things would have come down to where the FL Legislature would direct the EVs to be awarded. So I would assume this will be US Constitutional.

However, I am surprised this does not require a state constitutional amendment.

That sounds unconstitutional; they are disenfranchising their own voters.

That horse left the barn a long time ago...the Dems steal votes and take what they want. :-(

This'll be great!

When Trump wins the national popular vote in 2020 and the Kennedy Drooler (or whatever their rigged choice will be) wins CT, that will make even more liberal heads explode!

This will basically encourage and reward various states for allowing illegals to vote.

Dumb. Dumb dumb dumb dumb. Super dumb. Galactically dumb. Dumber than next seasons fall TV lineup dumb no doubt.

Watch this get locked up en route to the Supreme Court and Connecticut losing all their electoral votes while it's being deliberated.

Agreed. It doesn’t sound like it would pass constitutional muster.
