Interesting that this will be mandated by un-elected regulators, rather than legislators.

It might help out in scenarios where the electric grid goes down though, like big earthquakes.

Or appointed judges.

Good luck when global cooling kicks in and all the solar panels are covered in snow and ice.

Over tax, over spend, over regulate.

Sure fire recipe for social failure.

Cost of CA housing to further go up. Politically driven. Not market driven.

I wonder if these regulators might have some scam to enrich themselves from this regulation?

Solar panels are so good they have to force everybody to use them?

They must plan on some solar cell factories being built in CA.

CA has gone full fascism.

Thus raising the price of single-family homes and apartments, thus putting them out of the reach of normal people, thus increasing homelessness.

You liberals! stay the f*ck the hell out of things you don’t understand, like the free market economy.

Meanwhile, in related news today...

With no letup in home prices, the California exodus surges, by Andrea Riquier, May 7, 2018, Market Watch.
The median sale price for a home in California is more than double that in the rest of the nation

Mandatory solar...all to prevent burning evil fossil fuels to prevent the hoax of global warming / cooling / disruption / etc from happening.

Dead Kennedy Prophecy from 1978! It was satire at the time - not so much now!

I am Governor Jerry Brown
My aura smiles and never frowns
Soon I will be president
Carter power will soon go ‘way
I will be Führer one day
I will command all of you
Your kids will meditate in school
Your kids will meditate in school

California Über Alles
California Über Alles
Über Alles California
Über Alles California

Zen fascists will control you
Hundred percent natural
You will jog for the master race
And always wear the happy face
Close your eyes, can’t happen here
Big Bro’ on white horse is near
The hippies won’t come back, you say
Mellow out or you will pay
Mellow out or you will pay

California Über Alles
California Über Alles
Über Alles California
Über Alles California

Now it is nineteen eighty-four
Knock-knock at your front door
It’s the suede denim secret police
They have come for your uncool niece
Come quietly to the camp
You’d look nice as a drawstring lamp
Don’t you worry, it’s only a shower
For your clothes, here’s a pretty flower
Die on organic poison gas
Serpent’s egg’s already hatched
You will croak, you little clown
When you mess with President Brown
When you mess with President Brown

I could wish that these things worked, but I don’t think they do. They’re like T Boon Pickin’s (sp) windmills. They are a total boondoggle. The only way that they “work” is by laws compelling the power company to pay you for what they are supposedly generating. I can’t wait to see power generation grind to a halt in the state under the weight of this.

Just saw this at American Thinker:

It is an article of faith in the media that California has a “housing crisis” owing to the very high cost of homes, especially in the coastal urban areas, where most of California’s residents live. Yet the state is now adding an estimated $25,000 to $30,000 to the cost of constructing a new house in order to gratify the virtue-signaling impulses of green extremists.

Jon Fingas of Engadget (via Yahoo Finance) explains:

“...Interesting that this will be mandated by un-elected regulators, rather than legislators....”

Another typical move by our Marxist Sacramento Democrat government. Taking more control as usual. And they will tax it somehow as well. More Marxist intrusion.

Power, control and MONEY. It is all they do for the state, not the people.

How much longer until the fascists demand solar panels on every house sold?
