Nolte: John McCain Deserves Our Thanks for Selecting Sarah Palin as His Running Mate
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | May 7, 2018 | John Nolte

Posted on 05/08/2018 1:14:06 PM PDT by Bratch

From the sound of it, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is currently on his deathbed in Arizona to meet with old friends, nurse grudges, and express regrets.

[...]

McCain’s public expression of regret against Palin comes off as ungracious, as well as further proof that he still does not understand why his own presidential campaign failed.

Over the last decade, Palin has been unfailingly loyal to McCain. Despite the malicious leaks against her that came from his own campaign surrogates, despite unrelenting personal attacks from McCain’s own daughter Meghan, Palin has never spoken ill of the elder McCain. She has always and only expressed gratitude and respect, even as McCain’s family and immediate subordinates (all of whom were seeking favor from the media hoping to be rewarded with careers) savaged her purely for mercenary purposes.

Within this context, McCain kicking Palin from his deathbed, when he knows it would be impossible for her to defend herself, edges into an act of dishonorable cruelty on his part.

[...]

From the Tea Party to Trump, the GOP has not been the same since Palin strode into the spotlight, and now it is hardly recognizable from the calcified dinosaur McCain loved so. If that is what he regrets, that is a real shame, because on top of his military career, choosing Sarah Palin was the greatest service McCain ever performed for his country.

“He was brilliant.”

I don’t think so. He seems to be the same then as he is now with brain cancer.

In his early days, he was a traitor to America.
In his middle years he kicked his disabled wife to the curb.
Moving on, he was a traitor to Palin who may have been the most important person in his life - or could’ve been if his jealousy hadn’t eaten him alive.

A severely flawed human being.

My friends: Hindsight will always be 20-20. Bottom line she quit. She could have gone looking for defense funding when the dogs were sicked on her. She’s now got money. Murkowski is still in the senate and Sarah prefers being a celebrity while her children act like white trash. Gimme a break. She’s now an ornament.

She did go looking for Defense fund money, you fool. I warched the whole thing unfold.

But the Bush GOP told her flat out they weren’t going to help her remain in office. And why?

Because they thought she was a potential threat to Jeb 2016. So the Establishment did what comes naturally to them: they helped the Democrats.

Well now, ain’t Karma a b*tch. Nice to see the A$$ Clown GOP get its ass handed to it and Palin’s friend Trump, who could defend himself all on his own, in the White House.

“...McCain loved so.” What a pile of hooey! McLame was never trustworthy, but actually more nutworthy. He has been blowing smoke up America’s a$$ since he was emboldened by getting away with the S&L scandal. May the ground rise up to meet you, McCain!

The only good thing he ever did. Kind of a broken clock moment.

I wonder about that sometimes. Given the way the party conventions played out, by the time McCain officially received the nomination he already knew that he'd be facing Obama. His role, as set forth by the Uniparty, was to lose after a campaign that was mostly contrived to keep the people thinking that they had a role to play in such elections.

After seeing McCain show his real teeth and claws two years later in his Senate reelection campaign, it was pretty obvious that he'd phoned-in the 2008 effort. Ever since then, I've believed that Sarah was selected because she was someone whose political future the GOP didn't mind destroying. Her popularity sure threw a scare into the Establishment, though - hence the lengthy post-election beat-down that they aimed at her.

Same here; I voted for the son of a bitch hoping he would immediately drop dead, and then we could have a REAL AMERICAN (SARAH) for President.
I never forgot his disgusting temper tantrum after his loss in the 2000 primary.

He had it all. He was brilliant.

But he turned against her.

I will never understand why, he did that.

It is not hard to understand.

John McCain has always been a media animal. The Progressive Media saw him as the best leftist they could get from Arizona.

He picked Sarah Palin... and the Media came unglued against her. That is why he did not stick up for her and protect her.

During the 2008 Campaign, he said “The Media is my base.”

Murkowski up in 2020? Proof will be in the pudding. Don’t bet on it.

You’ve got that right! We went to a rally in Albuquerque and my recollection was that the reception when Sarah came out was far more uproarious than when John came out!

I had the privilege of hearing Palin at Trump’s Tulsa rally January 20, 2016, exactly a year before his inauguration.

Amen and halleluja! Preach it brother! Was living in Wasilla at the time, and the debate party at the Tailgater Grill was home base, a member of the Conservative Patriots’ Group. I don’t know of anybody who voted GOP because of McCain. It was obvious that McCain was losing his luster long before election day. Petty jerk. I voted, like everybody in that grill, for Sarah Palin. But her patriotism was to bitter a pill for that lickspittle weasel to swallow. Buh-bye, McCain. Here’s your hat; what’s your hurry?

She'd have resigned the Vice Presidency after a couple of years of his missteps and mistakes -- but yeah, best decision he ever made in politics.
