The “boy” was 17 and Rhodes was 20-21. They met on a gay dating app. So as much as I loath the guy the charges are not about assault but about age of consent laws. That carries a charge of 2nd degree sexual abuse and Rhodes plead guilty.
I think a 17 year old who goes on a gay dating app is capable of consenting to sex with a man 3 years older. One year,if not weeks, away from legal adulthood and I’m supposed to believe otherwise? Nope.
And he was out on parole for sexual abuse and sodomy!
Disagree. What if it were MY son. Or daughter. Still a minor. If your 17 y o daughter decided to be a cam girl or streetwalk would you want any “customers” prosecuted? I hope so.
Minor means something.
If the 17 y o can do it why not 16? Etc? We say you are an adult at 18. That’s where we draw that line. It has to be drawn somewhere.
Then work to change the law to suit what you think. It does not matter what you believe.
The objective law is the objective law, and it is used aggressively and punitively against conservatives and Christians.
Conservatives do not embrace subjective rule of law; that is a tactic of leftists.
