Report: Secret Source Who Aided Mueller Probe Is Deemed Off Limits To Congress
Daily Caller ^ | 05/09/2018 | Chuck Ross

House Republicans are again battling with the Justice Department over information related to the Russia investigation, this time over documents the intelligence community said involves a top-secret source who has provided information to the CIA and FBI.

The mysterious source has also gathered information that was given to Special Counsel Robert Mueller as part of his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, according to The Washington Post.

WaPo reported Justice Department and intelligence community officials issued a stark warning to the White House on May 2 against a request from House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes. Nunes had submitted a subpoena to the Justice Department on April 24 for records related to the Russia probe.

Justice Department and intelligence community officials argued to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly that complying with the subpoena would reveal the identity of a top-secret source and would undermine protocol regarding intelligence sources, according to WaPo.

Could even be Brennan who was the American ‘source’ shuttling info from the Brit cabal into the CIA and FBI.

That would explain the desperation of the swamp to conceal his role.

A big bunch of filthy rats !

It’s probably nobody...Just a made up source and they refuse to release ID because of that...

I'd bet good money on that at this point.

That tweet seems to contradict the wapo/DC story (or vice versa):

Kelly discussed the issue with Trump, who sided with the intelligence officials.

No problem. If it’s a secret source then the “evidence” cannot be admitted.

Exactly!

And on the other side of the coin ...

Trump cannot answer any of Mueller's questions because ... national security concerns. Check mate!

Nunes has to play by the rules but Mueller and DOJ don’t.

I don't think it's that easy. They would make him testify in camera.

It was an analyst at a “Five Eyes” partner.

Christopher Steele? We know how reliable he is, in presenting bull**** for money at Hilliary’s beck and call.

Here’s a rhetorical question:
Since this “source” and the “friendly foreign entity” the source works for, appears to have conspired to interfere in the US election and destroy our elected President, why would I GIVE A RIP, if exposure meant they wouldn’t “HELP” anymore?

WaPo provided one small clue about the source: he or she is American.

Mexico and Canada are part of North America. Brazil and Ecuador are part of South America. Hey, Julian Assange now has Ecuadoran diplomatic status. Plus, many dual citizens have an American citizenship. So, probably not Kim of North Korea or Xi of China, but saying American doesn’t mean as much as one might assume.

It’s easy enough for Mueller. It’s easy enough for the FBI. It’s easy enough for the DoJ. It’s easy enough for the State Dept.

POTUS can say on camera “I can’t answer any questions because ... national security concerns. I can’t tell you what those concerns are because ... national security concerns. That will be all.”

Are you telling me that the POTUS has fewer national security concerns than his subordinates or less authority to invoke them?

I don't give a RIP either. I was just saying that the source, even if a US citizen (which the article claims he is), could still be an agent of a foreign state.

Don’t be too harsh. My guess is that Trump knows a whole lot more about what the IG and AG are doing behind the scenes. Yes its true that he could declassify any and all documents relating to the Mueller investigation. But it serves his purpose of giving these f*uckers more and more line until its time to set the hook.

I said "in camera," meaning in private, not "on camera." That is the way courts handle security concerns. Federal judges have security clearance.

I don't think the Mueller witch hunt should exist at all.

Federal judges have security clearance.

Not as high as a POTUS' clearance.

The DOJ is not a defendant in a trial -yet. We were debating whether Trump could decline to testify because, like the DOJ's refusal to un-redact, of security concerns. Winesses/defendants can decline to testify in public, but I don't think they can decline to testify in a judge's chambers for that reason.

But also I think there are many reasons for Mueller to just go away.

Ridiculous. The intel committee must have patriotic Americans with the highest clearance, otherwise they couldn’t do their job

“Justice Department and intelligence officials” issue warning to their superiors? That’s rich.

They are in dire need of major overhaul and many “attitude adjustment sessions”.

My comment actually wasn’t directed at anything you’ve said — just the general situation. The WaPo’s claim that the individual is a US citizen is really curious given Stephen Boyd’s reply to Nunes, which was written to strongly imply the person was a foreigner. We are left to wonder if the WaPo is FOS on this claim (as usual) or if Boyd deliberately put in crappola about friendly foreign services, etc. to misdirect attention. I guess a US citizen could be working for a foreign intel service.

Nunes should arrange to view this information privately. If it is as merely outrageous, he could proceed with contempt charges, etc., and try to force it out. If it is Blumenthal or his fellow Dem dirtbagger, Nunes should spill the beans and let the chips fall. That would end Rosenstein and Mueller as we know them.
