AG Sessions Buys Time From Contempt of Congress

Department of Justice Attorney General Jeff Sessions has bought himself time from a threat of contempt of Congress for failing to produce classified information lawmakers requested after the Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and a colleague attended a closed-door meeting Thursday afternoon with members of the DOJ and intelligence community.

Chairman Devin Nunes, R-CA, and House Intelligence Committee member Congressman Trey Gowdy, R-SC, met with representatives from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, FBI and DOJ in an effort to obtain or view the classified information requested several weeks ago on a particular individual related to the Special Counsel’s probe on alleged collusion between President Trump’s campaign and Russia.

“None of these folks at DOJ and FBI were elected officials and yet they are consistently keeping information from the committees and the American people” Rep. Jim Jordan

Nunes, along with the support of his Republican colleagues and House Majority Whip Steve Scales, R-LA, threatened Sessions with contempt for first ignoring a letter on the request sent two weeks ago and then later refusing to honor the request last week in a formal letter, according to the committee. The House Intelligence Committee, along with other committees, have made the contempt threats numerous times before in an effort to obtain information necessary for their oversight. Nunes and his colleagues have long complained that the DOJ and FBI have hindered their committees’ ability to investigate by either stonewalling or refusing to turn over the information.

Congress has ALL the power in washington, the executive and judicial branch operate according to the whims of CONGRESS!

“U.S. CODE
TITLE 2—THE CONGRESS
CHAPTER 6—CONGRESSIONAL AND COMMITTEE PROCEDURE; INVESTIGATIONS
Sec. 193. Privilege of witnesses
No witness is privileged to refuse to testify to any fact, or to produce any paper, respecting which he shall be examined by either House of Congress, or by any joint committee established by a joint or concurrent resolution of the two Houses of Congress, or by any committee of either House, upon the ground that his testimony to such fact or his production of such paper may tend to disgrace him or otherwise render him infamous.”

Simply look up Hinds Precedents, especially chapters 53 and 51, and Cannon’s Precedents, especially chapters 184-185. You’ll find numerous detailed cases of Congress asserting its power, arresting people, holding them until they agreed to answer questions, and then releasing them. Some of these people did not refuse to appear, but simply failed to satisfactorily answer questions. One has to wonder how a previous Congress might have responded to Alberto Gonzales’s endless recitations of “I do not recall.”

Congress can Remove the President
Congress can remove the head of every executive agency Congress can remove ALL of their employees
Congress can Abolish every agency they so choose
Congress can remove EVERY JUDGE IN AMERICA, including every supreme court justice.
Congress can abolish every federal court except the supreme Court
Congress can decide which cases the Judicial Branch can hear and decide
CONGRESS can Imprison ANYONE they want for any reason they so desire for as long as they wish.
Congress can declare WAR

No other governing body has even 10% of the power CONGRESS has!!

CONGRESS IS ALLOWING ALL OF IT!!!

Congress has the authority to arrest and imprison those found in Contempt. The power extends throughout the United States and is an inherent power (does not depend upon legislated act)

If found in Contempt the person can be arrested under a warrant of the Speaker of the House of Representatives or President of the Senate, by the respective Sergeant at Arms.

Statutory criminal contempt is an alternative to inherent contempt.

Under the inherent contempt power Congress may imprison a person for a specific period of time or an indefinite period of time, except a person imprisoned by the House of Representatives may not be imprisoned beyond adjournment of a session of Congress.

Imprisonment may be coercive or punitive.

In 1857, a New York Times reporter refused to say which members of Congress had asked him to get them bribes (protecting his “sources” just as various Judith Millers today protect the people who feed them proven lies that costs thousands of lives), so Congress locked him up until he answered and then banned him from Congress.

In 1924 an oil executive appeared but refused to answer certain questions, so the Senate held — literally held — him in contempt. Senator Thomas Walsh of Montana argued that this question of contempt was of the gravest importance, and that it involved “the very life of the effective existence of the House of Representatives of the United States and of the Senate of the United States.” The matter was taken to court, and the witness fined and imprisoned.

Can you imagine Obummer having any difficulty with Holder or Lynch. No? An AG is supposed to be loyal and protective, not someone whom we have to sue to get a straight answer. Sheesh!

Why is Sessions trying to buy time? Does he have something to hide? Is he trying to evade justice?

Hey Sara, it’s Scalise not Scales and there’s no y or z sound in Nunes. With Rosenstein, think Frankenstein not Springsteen. :-)

“threatened Sessions with contempt for first ignoring a letter on the request sent two weeks ago and then later refusing to honor the request last week “

Who does Sessions think he is - a Democrat?

So, the shape-shifting extraterrestrials in charge of the Deep State called Nunes and Gowdy into a room. They then REPLACED these two individuals with REPLICAS who are no longer patriots, although it's possible Gowdy was replaced long ago..

Let's see if Nunes still has a patriot's balls of steel. That will be very telling.

It’s either Kabuki/Trump 3-D Chess wizardry, or Sessions is personally comprised. I don’t know which to believe at this point. But if I had to bet I’d go for “compromised.”

“Why is Sessions trying to buy time? Does he have something to hide? Is he trying to evade justice?”

Maybe...Just maybe... There is already a real criminal investigation going on behind the scenes. And maybe if the information was made public at this time then it would compromise that investigation along with the bringing of criminal charges. The question is will Donald Trump being pulling a rabbit out of his hat shortly? Wait for the OIG report.

Pure speculation, but wouldn’t it be interesting to learn that Carter Page, known former FBI INFORMANT, turned out to be the current FBI implant/ informant in the Trump campaign - the informant whom Rosenstein is now desperately seeking to keep concealed???

I find amusing how a few holdouts think we’ll wake up to find Sessions has torn off his shirt to reveal brightly colored spandex tights sewn from swadling clothes found in his crashed spacecraft.

I’m beginning to wonder if Sessions was the spy the FBI planted in the Trump Campaign. It would explain why a guy like him, after 20 years in the senate, would become a groupie at Trump Rallies.....worm his way into the AG gig, and then appear to botch it.
