I don't know what happened in the Hanoi Hilton. I know there are contemporary allegations that he collaborated. I also am certain that they absolutely physically abused him as his physical state has borne witness. Did he sustain torture for a time before cracking and recording some stuff the enemy? I can't know that and no tape exists so what can you say? Without evidence to the contrary, I won't assume the worst.

He's been a backstabbing snake, a thief, and a liar from his time as a member of the Keating 5 until this very day. He takes glee in twisting the knife and he makes no secret of it. He's a terrible human being without an ounce of honor. But for me, that's not enough to say his POW experience was sunshine, roses, and collaboration.

His injuries were from not following proper ejection procedures, not torture.
They were self-inflicted.

I know it is not a popular opinion here, but I agree with you. Based on descriptions in The Hanoi Commitment, by Capt. James Mulligan, and When Hell Was in Session, by Adm. Jeremiah Denton, I will need to be convinced via hard evidence that John McCain collaborated with the North Vietnamese. Both of these memoirs were written relatively soon after the release of the POWs, and neither man had a bad word to say about McCain.

Leopards don't change their spots. He obviously didn't change overnight into a backstabbing snake, thief and liar. I can't help but think that he's had those qualities all his life.
