You were blessed.

I turn 70 later this year. 4 years ago I had my first PSA test, it was already at 24. Biopsies were done and confirmed cancer. Each year I have another PSA test. About a month ago it was up to a PSA of 60. I was sent to another doc for a second opinion. This doc told me that surgery was no longer an option and referred me a cancer clinic. At the cancer clinic the doc informed me that radiation was not recommended at this time. He is referring me for additional scans to see if it had metastasized. If it hadn’t spread to other places then drugs, hormones, might help but those drugs would chemically castrate me.

I’ll go in for the scans, then another biopsy, but after that I’ll just ride it out. I will not choose the hormone treatment. I have heart and lung issues and I am a diabetic. These additional issues are under control at the moment, but in the doctors judgement, I’ll still die of something other than prostrate cancer within 5-8 or 10 years.

I sure wish the cancer had been found much sooner.
