“Violated”?
I’m seeing that word all over the reporting of this story, claiming Trump “violated” the deal.
Neither Trump nor, in fact, the U.S. is a party to the deal. This was a deal between Obama and Iran, since he didn’t want to go the treaty route. So for Trump, there is no “deal” to “violate”.
He should push back strongly on that point, and put the world on notice that US presidents who try to make deals on behalf of the US in isolation - without going the treaty route - are only acting on their own behalf, not on behalf of the country, period.
Never mind the phrase “executive agreement” not having any legal definition in the US that I’m aware of.
Yes; “violated” is the current manifestation of the Big Lie in the media.
Yes, why isn’t this made more of, publicly? This was no treaty on behalf of the People of the USA!
