Oklahoma State Troopers Association lobbied against this bill. So did the OSBI, the agency that runs the gun safety courses and hands out permits.

Jerks.

In Oklahoma, the OSBI makes money from gun safety courses. They are not about to shut down an income. The Oklahoma State Police is DEEPLY concerned about any erosion in their power to act like highway robbers. The OHP is notorious for writing "57 in a 55" tickets on I-40, I-35 and I-44. You have a hard time finding an OHP car off the Interstates.

So did the Chamber of Commies. Everytown and the Moms Needing Action poured money in, and it was rumored that they were recruiting out-of-state members to make phone calls. Because of the way calls to the Governor's office were counted in this instance, there would be no way for the they to be detected, let alone blocked. All done by design.
