Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) liberated the village of Baghous on the shore of the Euphrates River.

SDF fighters advancing in rural Deir ez-Zor in the Operation Jazeera Storm have encircled all the ISIS-occupied areas east of the Euphrates.

The fighters have liberated the village of Baghous on the shore of the Euphrates River Sunday afternoon. In addition to its strategic importance, the village is located on the highway linking to Hajin town, the last settlement held by ISIS at Syrian-Iraqi border.

The final phase of the Operation Jazeera Storm was launched by SDF on May 1st to liberate the remaining areas under ISIS occupation at Syrian-Iraqi border. SDF forces are advancing in coordination with the Iraqi army with the support of the international coalition.

This completes the encirclement of the remaining ISIS elements in Northern Syria.

Except for those imported by Erdogan the Islamist into the region of Afrin. In that assault Turkey employed 3,000 member of ISIS and many al-Qaeda.

Eradicating the ISIS positions in Deir Ezzor was delayed while the SDF (Kurds) tried to defend Afrin.

This would have been over except for Turkey.

Well there it is! Unfortunately ISIS will keep popping it’s head up other places as we know. But this is good news nonetheless!

At some point the issue of ISIS in Afrin will resurface. I know the Kurds have not given up recapturing it.

If something happens where they are denied the Turk air cover, Kurd will kill them all and not take much time doing it.

This is a BIG grudge now.

Freedom on the March!

This war is nearing its end, but there is still some glory to gain, to tell the grandchildren.

ISIS is such an atrocity that they are an epic evil. Seldom do men have the ability to prove their courage and character against such a clearly justified threat. Men fight bulls, because they really test/prove bravery.

It reminds me of the heroic story of Horatius at the Bridge, when the survival of early Rome hung by a thread:

“Their van will be upon us
Before the bridge goes down;
And if they once may win the bridge,
What hope to save the town?”

Then out spake brave Horatius,
The Captain of the gate:
“To every man upon this earth
Death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better
Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his gods,

When Horatius boldly took to that bridge, and succeeded against fearful odds, he became a hero, remembered for millenia.

Go get some SDF! The day of glory has arrived!

They are not short on bravery. And the are extremely good soldier. And they still carry a smile.

I know they are not all like that, but so many of them are that our soldier truly admire them. And trust them. And as best I can tell, that trust has never been betrayed.

They have not forgotten what happened in Efrin. Some are still there killing the invaders. They killed about 15 last week.

If something happens where the Turk air support is no longer allowed. The Kurds will take it all back.

I know that some of them are far to the left of me, but they deserve far better than the treatment the have had.

A Russian (in Moscow) once told me in conversation that they were born to be free. He was right.

They have still not found al Baghdadi yet. It is likely that he may be in this final pocket.

That would be a real catch. Take him dead would be good.

Possibly, but he is Sunni and Iran is Shia.

Someone earlier suggested possibly Turkey. Which is certainly an option.

Well he’s hiding out to be sure. I can certainly see Erdogan involved. But even if they get him they’ll be another to take his place. There always is.
