Benedict Cumberbatch is putting his money where his mouth is in the pursuit of gender equality in filmmaking with a promise to reject projects where women don't earn the same.
In recent months it was revealed that Mark Wahlberg negotiated a further $1.5 million for reshoots on All The Money In The World while co-lead Michelle Williams worked for just an $80 per day....

May his career dry up.
WTF is a Benedict Cumberbatch ?????
Good for him. Whoever he is. Never heard of him.
Meh
Those brits are all little girls now.
How many people are even aware of what coworkers earn?
Sounds like Mark Wahlberg has a better agent.
[[Benedict Cumberbatch Will Refuse Roles Where Female Co-Stars Are Paid Less]]
Good- sit on the unemployment line, we don’t care
Overrated hack
You realize he’s actually committed to nothing, right? He’s saying female “co-stars.” That means a woman who gets top billing with him in a movie. If you go to see “The Imitation Game” and there’s Benedict Cumberbatch’s name above the title of the movie that makes him the star. Guess what? No female co-star. He’s not even pledging to ask producers to pay female actresses in an ensemble the same as him on movies he’s NOT starring in such as Avengers where I’m pretty sure he made more for about three weeks work than the woman who played the Scarlett Witch did for appearing in twice as many scenes. Neither are the “star,” though so he can take his check right to the bank with a free conscience. This is actually quite a smart move by either Cumberbatch or his agent. It makes him look magnanimous while committing to nothing because there are VERY few movies outside of rom-coms where the lead actor and lead actress get top billing.
Benedict Cumberbatch won’t be earning a lot of money from now on.....................
Oh, he won’t be unemployed. Just paid really low salaries..............
Someone on another thread pointed out he’s losing nothing by saying this - his pay doesn’t go down.
Psych!
STupiD...
It has nothing to do with gender equality.
It does have to do with an entertainers ability to draw audiences.
If he wants to donate part of his salary to women, that’s fine but, what portion of actors on a movie constitute his fairness BS?
and just for the record- it’s not about what gender you are- it’s about how big a name you are and what numbers of crowds you can draw to the box offices that determines what a star is worth- Bet that many big name women are getting more than no name male actors- perhaps those women should not work unless they get the same as the no name male actors?
One of Kermit’s sidekicks? I’ve never heard of him/her.
Pay all the actors/actresses on set $15/hr. Problem solved!
