As the United States Embassy to Israel in Jerusalem is dedicated on Monday, not one Congressional Democrat will be in attendance.
Several Republicans from both the House of Representatives and the Senate will be in attendance at the event. A couple of delegations of Congressional Republicans flew to Israel for the event, the Times of Israel reports.
"That is a sad, sad manifestation. I wish hed have every member of Congress here," Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) said blaming former President Barack Obama and his relationship with Israeli leadership for no Democrats attending.
"I dont know why the Democrats will not be here, chose not to come. Every member of Congress had the option before them to come and be here," Cruz said. "There was no way on earth we could have inaugurated this embassy without my being here to celebrate it. Its too important."
In addition to Cruz, three other Senate Republicans are present for the dedication.
Israels Channel 10 said that no Democrats were given invitations to attend the dedication, however, Cruz said that invitations were not necessary for the lawmakers to attend.
"None of us were invited," Cruz said, noting that his delegation came together when he asked fellow senators to join him in attending the opening of the embassy.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) told reporters that he personally invited Democrats to come to the dedication with the delegation of Republican senators.
"I would just assume that the Republicans who didnt come had [scheduling] conflicts. But I am disappointed that not one Democrat came," Graham said. "What does that say? Its not for me to tell you what that says. It hurts me. Because I work across the aisle on a regular basis. I think it was a mistake, because theres too much going on in this region."
Sen. Mike Lee (R., Utah) and Sen. Dean Heller (R., Nev.) are the other senators in attendance.
Rep. Joe Wilson (R., S.C.) led a group of 10 House Republicans to the embassy dedication.
Israeli reporter Ariel Kahane said Wilson opened the House delegation to all members but said Democratic leadership was blocking any Democrats from attending.
Not correct. Every member of Congress was invited through the congressional delegation (codel) of congress member Joe Wilson who opened his codel to any member who wanted to come. People involved in the process blame the democratic leadership of congress blocked its members https://t.co/7PKqEE6RPn

When President Donald Trump announced the United States would move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Democrats blasted the decision, despite past support for Jerusalem to be recognized as Israel's capital. The Democratic Party has recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital in each of its last four party platforms.
UPDATED 11:07 A.M.: One Israeli news outlet has reported that Democratic Rep. Ted Deutch (Fla.) was part of the American delegation attending the dedication ceremony. This story will be updated further if Deutch's attendance is confirmed.
And thats a good thing.
The dimoKKKRATS know damn good and well that they have 70% of the Jewish vote locked up. No matter what.
Neither Trump nor Israel is popular with their constituents. They saw no profit in going, so they didn’t.
That piece of crap Schumer would have crawled on his belly and swum the Atlantic and Mediterranean to get to Israel had either Clinton or Obama kept their promise to open the US Embassy in Jerusalem. Same for every last Dem in the Senate and House.
Why should they, they have the Jew vote locked.
Almost 6% of Congress now Jewish 28 Democrats and 2 Republicans
The 115th Congress has largest share of Jews in any freshman class since data became available, analysis shows.
RE: they have 70% of the Jewish vote locked up. No matter what.
Riddle me this — why do American Jews support a party that only pays lip service to their ancestral land?
We are all Americans first. It doesn’t bother me so much how they respond to a single issue on Israel. What bothers me is how they vote, the vast majority to destroy our country by voting Democrat
Almost 6% of Congress now Jewish 28 Democrats and 2 Republicans.
And 0 of 28 D Jew congressmen went.
I just dont get it yet yet. Are the Jews all about cheap labor? Are they Godless? Self-destructive? Marxists? What?
What about democrat Jews in congress?
But, you can be sure these same no-show Dems will be at the next AIPAC conference with their hands out. What is also predictable is they will walk away with pledges of support from this bi-partisan organization whose only goal is to foster the US - Israel relationship.
It would not be surprising to discover that they secretly collaborated as a ‘Jewish coalition’ NOT to attend the embassy opening in Israel.
Who can forget the Black Congressional caucus boycotting the 2016 inauguration?
Same thing here, but the jews were not foolish enough to make a public spectacle of their snub to their heritage and their President.
Very sad.

Its providence pure and simple
I imagine its the same way most American Christians aren’t associated with our religions historical geographic European origins.
It IS good thing. And the GOP needs to make it known far and wide. However, it is important to understand that the typical secular (coastal) Jew cares very little about Israel. In fact, they are far more concerned with acceptance into the right (elitist) circles. This is why the secular Jew will always be liberal. They are, and always will be, ‘virtual signaling’ to others in order to be socially accepted. They are embarrassed by Israel and instead focused on being invited to the right cocktail parties. They have no core beliefs. Their beliefs are tied to whatever will earn them acceptance as cultural elites.
Unfortunately, these secular Jews are more afraid of what their non-Jewish peers will think than of what G-d will think. They throw Israel and Jerusalem under the bus without a second thought, because they are concrete thinkers. They live in the here and now, without a thought as to how they will be judged when they pass away. They go with what they can see instead of what they must accept on faith, because they have no faith. Unfortunately, these same folks often ridicule the faith of the faithful. G-d waits patiently for these non-religious Jews to discover what they are missing in not living a religious Jewish life. Hopefully, these secular Jews will wake up and learn to appreciate Israel.
