That’s why I used the phrase, more likely, instead of the word, all. Here are lists of the most common surnames for each.

More facts...

you should not read half-truth and incomplete stories like You wouldn't think so with just this bit of information, but several weeks ago I saw an article about the Irish parliament about to pass a law that said any Irish citizen caught with products of Israel would receive a six month jail sentence. According to the article (from memory) the law was only stopped because the White House intervened. They contacted the leader of the Irish parliament and informed him that Israel was an ally of the United States, and unless he wanted a trade embargo on Irish goods sold to the US, he would drop this idea.

The truth is that they PROPOSED a ban on products made in settlements in the West bank - not for products made in the rest of Israel

ALSO The bill was stopped because of Israeli protests, not due to White House intervention

The former makes it slightly less bad, but to say they wanted to ban ALL Israeli products is just hyperbole. A large % of Ireland's companies are actually Israeli

Thank you for providing me with better information. The article I read said nothing like that. It appeared to be a specifically anti-Israel article, and it just seemed insane to me.

If what you are telling me is correct, it was insane, because someone made it up.

I'm actually not telling you anything :)

Just pointing out different links that show the whole picture

What you heard was "partial news" - true for the PART it was saying "Irish parliament to raise bill to boycott Israeli goods" - but it didn't mention about the fact that it was Israeli goods made in the West bank. I doubt many Israeli goods are made there.

I make it a point of reading The guardian and The Economist - the first is hard left and the second left of center -- in addition to right sources of information. The idea is to get balance. And especially, in the case of the guardian and huffpost - I know that if they stand for something, I should be opposed (and vice-versa) :)

That is usually a very good rule of thumb. I would ad "Vox" and some other kook publications to it as well.
