Democrats are set up for victory in 2018 — and trouble in 2020

Division in a political party can be a blessing or a curse. And sometimes, it can be both.

In the Democratic Party's struggle to retake the House of Representatives in November 2018, division is a very good thing indeed. But whether it will remain so as the party tries to defeat President Trump's presumed bid for re-election in 2020 is another matter entirely.

First, the good news for Dems: Less than six months out from the midterm elections, lack of consensus about the future direction of the party allows the Democrats to adapt to regional and ideological differences in the electorate. So, in a liberal, wealthy suburb that is appalled by President Trump, a progressive congressional candidate who describes herself as a leader of the "resistance" against incipient authoritarianism might be the perfect Democrat. Meanwhile, in a swing district in the Midwest that has a history of voting Democratic but sided with Trump in 2016, a candidate who combines an economically populist message with a more moderate one on cultural issues (guns, abortion, transgender rights) might be the perfect fit.

For 2018 this prediction is fast becoming delusional.

So, basically: “The democrats need to lie all they want about national politics and their national political goals, as long as the democrats get to win each local race by lying about their national goals for socialism-communism-one world government and one world religion: Atheistic Islam.

The democrats need to lie all they want about national politics and their national political goals

Yes. Not just democrats... all politicians say the things they think will get them elected... and when they don’t, their handlers smack them up and and ask them why.

Trump is an outlier in this regard. He isn’t a career politician. Even experienced dog catchers and local mayors learn early to know what people want to hear and forget it after November.

But the article does make a good point.
The party out of the White House in a mid-term election has a significant strategic freedom because they don’t have any one person out there espousing their overall goals and no one to symbolize their direction. The players in the individual races can say what they want and not have it tainted by some larger figurehead.

I still think though that the media has a problem with dissociating with sentiments of most Americans outside the liberal bastion cocoons and may be in for another little shock.

I have always thought that the ‘Blue Wave’ would turn out to be a ‘Red Ripple’.

Was on a Democrat website last week that said the Dems were going to take the House and Senate in 2018 because the President's popularity is in the high 30’s and similarly overestimated Dems’ standing. If they were depressed in 2016, this November is going to be something to see.

It’s hard to win election in the USA when you are against the citizens and the rule of law and advocate for fraudulently documented foreigners having immunity from our laws.

So the Democrat can lie to get elected, but then will toe the party line when in office. We’’ve seen this show before.

"lack of consensus about the future direction of the party allows the Democrats to adapt to regional and ideological differences in the electorate"

Ah yes, the 2006 strategy. It's commonly called "lying", but thats the Left's stock in trade.
