The ammunition will not operate in any other launching device.Depends on what They mean by "operate", I suppose.
My thought - give the team some left over World War II K Rations and canteens, and tell them to walk from one end of the route to the other, then back and forth, and call in when they find the missing box.

Can you imagine a Mexican drug cartel or MS-13 having a MK19 machine gun grenade launcher and a full box of grenade rounds?
