Our federal government is just about dead as a functioning form of government under the Constitution. If it disappeared tomorrow, I would not care. Treason with those who want you and your country dead will lead to actually a chance that it very well could happen. I remember the Iran Hostage Crisis. America was furious. America has changed. The Iranians hang people by cranes in public. Many in American government deserve the same fate.
True, but it's well on the way to being a Venetian style "Republic" where a council of the biggest merchants, favored artists, and wealthy nobles, selected the Doge and average folks either kissed the butts of the leadership to become bureaucrats or made do with poorly paid jobs working for the wealthy elite.
We're already increasingly relying on mercenaries and before you know it we'll be leasing out our Navy to fight wars for the wealthy elsewhere who are willing to cover our costs and add a healthy profit.
