I spent some time in that business. Talk about a euphemism. You have to bribe everyone. You have to contribute to everybody’s campaign, maximally. You don’t have a choice. You get phone calls from the front desk of the mayor’s office during office hours soliciting donations.

It’s not a miracle that anything gets built. It’s simple - you pay off everybody - both sides of the aisle.

With Seattle now, it is suddenly broken. You have Bernie-Bot socialists (the irony, the Sawant character was once married to a Microsoft millionaire and was not born in the US - yep, we imported this cancer):

It is corrupt liberal Seattle vs this new righteous brand of teflon crusading Bernie-bots. Bellevue doesn’t have such issues, and neither does Renton or Tacoma for the most part.
