Rubio Warns That Fake Videos Pose 'a Major Threat to Our Democracy'

CNSNews.com) - Realistic fake videos increasingly pose a major threat to our democracy, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) told the Senate intelligence committee on Tuesday.
"Deep fakes -- are you familiar with that term?" Rubio asked William Evanina, tapped by President Trump to be the next director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center.
Evanina said no, so Rubio explained:
"A deep fake is the ability to manipulate sound images or video to make it appear that a certain person did something that they didn't do." The senator said the videos are increasingly realistic, thanks to advances in technology

"A deep fake is the ability to manipulate sound images or video to make it appear that a certain person did something that they didn't do."Saw that back in the 60s, on an episode of Star Trek in which Kirk was on trial for having caused the death of an officer by pressing a jettison button while not at red alert. They're refining the technique.

Normally I laugh at Little Marco, but given the rate of technical achievement in areas like CGI, he has a point.
It will soon be possible to totally fabricate news footage on a computer. As was done in the movie Running Man.

Yep, they know what’s coming and are trying to get out in front of it.
Interestingly enough, these "fake video" stories came out exactly a day after Q hinted about the existence of a damning HRC video. Have at it, Q haters.
