Russia favored Trump in 2016, Senate panel says, breaking with House GOP

The Senate Intelligence Committee has determined that the intelligence community was correct in assessing that Russia meddled in the 2016 U.S. election with the aim of helping then-candidate Donald Trump, contradicting findings House Republicans reached last month.

“Our staff concluded that the [intelligence community’s] conclusions were accurate and on point,” the panel’s vice chairman, Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-Va.), said Wednesday in a joint statement with Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), its chairman. “The Russian effort was extensive, sophisticated, and ordered by President Putin himself for the purpose of helping Donald Trump and hurting Hillary Clinton,” Warner continued.

Hmm ... let's see here ...

- Trump reversing the 8-yr decline of the US military (not in Russia's interest)
- Trump ending crippling regulations on domestic energy production (not in Russia's interest)
- Trump improving relations with our allies (not Russia's interest)

These are things Trump promised during his campaign. Were the Russians not paying attention?

Had the Hildabeast won ...

- US military continuing in decline (in Russia's interest)
- Regulations on domestic energy production tightened to the point of bankrupting entire industries (in Russia's interest)
- Worsening relations with allies, and continued appeasement of rivals and enemies (in Russia's interest).

So, again, why are these idiots trying to sell us on a theory that Putin & Co. were trying to throw the election to Trump, when clearly a Hildabeast victory would have served Russia's interest?

Inquiring minds want to know ...

Why would Russia support Trump when Hillary was bought and paid for? She truly was compromised. It would have been in Russia’s best interest to have a Hillary presidency. Makes ZERO sense they would push for Trump.

Obviously, the Russians would have preferred the weak and corruptible Hillary Clinton as POTUS. Trump is the very last kind of POTUS that Putin would help win an election.

However, it is quite possible Putin realized that the best way to hurt Trump would be by cultivating the appearance that he was helping him.

There was a thread a few days back that showed the Russian Facebook ads... they were lame.

I figured they would be - based on the fact the New York Times and Washington Post didn’t front page ‘em... but they’re worse than I ever imagined. I doubt the Russian ‘ads’ changed one vote.

“Frankly, we could see that conclusion being reached. They expected Shrillary to win, so they worked to HURT her.”

Absolutely correct. They expected they would wind up dealing with her, and wanted her weakened. They didn’t expect Trump to win. Hell, Trump didn’t expect Trump to win. If their meddling helped Trump (a big if), it was an incidental side effect of their real goal, weakening the incoming Hillary administration.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh....I challenge anyone on FR to challenge what you wrote. That woman and everyone around her are/were so compromised that the Russians would have been able to get anything they wanted from her. Lord only knows what Syria would be like, even though I wish the President would just leave it alone. And who knows where else.

But, you’re spot on, correct.

Obama campaigned in Germany. He went to England in an effort to have Brexit defeated. He had Khadaffi assassinated.

He also undermined Israel's elections, tried to overthrow Assad, install the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and was involved in shady crap in Ukraine. The Qaddafi overthrow and assassination was a WAR CRIME. Domestically, dirty "bundled" money came from all over the world from the scummiest sources and enemies of the USA. I do believe he should have lost the re-election but he criminally was able to get a second term where he was much more "flexible" with RUSSIA. Volumes can be written about Clinton who belongs in prison just by the "Uranium Deal" and dirty money from RUSSIA.

In other words, the Deep State says they favored Trump. Who’s surprised?

I see Burr was shown his Balls again as Warner was writting his report.

EVERYONE in Washington knows this committee is run By Warner and both Burr and Warner want Trumps head.

That is why ALL the other committees investigating the russia crap refuse to share information with them.

“What is wrong with the Republican Senators?”

They don’t like Trump, and many likely are upset that he’s doing well. Politics is the easiest venue in which untalented narcissists can fulfill their need to ‘be special’. Trump threatens their stature, and stature is much more important to them than any political ideology. It’s the same reason so many ‘communists’ from the USSR became fans of democracy and reform after the fall of the Soviet Union. They just wanted to keep their gig.
