The U.S. Justice Department has agreed to provide congressional investigators confidential records on a failed gun-trafficking operation during the Obama administration known as "Fast and Furious" that long has been criticized by Republican lawmakers.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the Justice Department would hand over documents to the Republican-led House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform that had been withheld by Democratic former President Barack Obama's administration.
The agreement reached by Republican President Donald Trump's administration will effectively end a six-year long legal battle in which the committee had gone to federal court to try to enforce a subpoena it had issued to obtain the records.
Congressional Republicans have been pressing the Justice Department for years about the operation. Named after a movie about car racing, the operation sought to curb gun-trafficking criminals who were selling weapons to Mexican drug cartels.
In June 2012, the Republican-led House voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder, an Obama appointee, in contempt for failing to turn over documents about the operation. The committee sued Holder for access to the documents in August 2012. Obama asserted executive privilege to block the disclosure of the documents.

It is entirely possible that the Obama admin, Eric Holder ad their co-conspirators, may have committed federal offenses, including, but not limited to:

<><> 18 U.S.C.§1027 False statements and concealment of facts in relation to funding documents required by ERISA enacted 1974 and other possible offenses including civil and/or criminal RICO violations.
<><> 18 U.S.C. §§1961-68 (RICO Act)18 U.S.C. §1001 (making false Statements to Agents of the US Government regarding federal funding),
<><> 18 U.S.C. §241(Conspiracies Against Civil Rights). Violation of Civil Rights under Color of law and conspiracy. Conspiring with others to violate conservative students’ 4th amendment rights.
<><> Possibly full investigations centering on RICO conspiracies under 18 U.S.C. §1962(c) could be warranted because (1) the persons (2) were employed by or associated with a federally funded enterprise (3) that engaged in or affected interstate commerce and that (4) the persons operated or managed the enterprise (5) through a “pattern” (6) of racketeering activity, and (7) the taxpayers were injured by reason of the “pattern” of racketeering activity.
<><> Alleged Offenses could include Violation of Rights – which prohibits in relevant part, “two or more persons (from conspiring) to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District
<><> Title 18 U.S.C. §2 41 – Conspiracy Against Constitutional mandates in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of having so exercised the same . . .” See, 18 U.S.C. §241.
Taxpayers demand the following agencies commence investigations of the Fast and Furious activities at once:

<><> IRS-Fraud Unit
<><> Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General,
<><> Department of Commerce’s Office of Inspector General.
<><> DOJ’s Criminal Division— Public Integrity Section
<><> DOJ Criminal Division—Organized Crime and Gang Section.
It was an answer to a question that nobody asked.
Personally, I have always believed that, "we've got to brainwash Americans about guns" Eric Holder, expected mass casualties, and wanted to use the deaths as an excuse to ban guns.
The fly in the ointment, was, that they NEVER expected the public to know that THEY were the illegal gun runners, which is why they pulled the gangster intimidation tactics on the few serious reporters who were investigating Fast and Furious.

What’s to investigate? The Amazing Horowitz already did a thorough investigation and cleared Eric Holder of all wrongdoing.

As near as I can tell, nearly 100 "Fast and Furious" guns have been picked up by law enforcement in Arizona. 60 were pulled out of the back of a van in Phoenix. About 35 were confiscated in a raid on a house in Nogales, AZ and one AK was abandoned along with 40 pounds of Marijuana in the desert near Ajo. Another 30 or so guns, some AKs, some ARs were confiscated a few years ago from a "rip crew" in Casa Grande but there was never any confirmation in the press whether these were F&F guns but anyone want to guess? At a certain point the press stopped mentioning whether weapons confiscated by law enforcement were associated with the federal governments efforts to arm the drug cartels. So maybe they're all gone now but some of us doubt it.
All of this makes for a curious fact about AZ gun shows. You very rarely see anyone trying to sell a used AK. A lot of people are concerned about the provenance of anything that isn't passing through an FFL. When buying an AK in AZ, the 4473 is your friend.

Holder is still laughing at the contempt charge. He should have been jailed.
No, it looks like this started in November 17. Admiral Rogers visited Trump at Trump Tower and told him everything the NSA had heard about Crossfire Hurricane, everything.
Trump allowed Mueller to set up his little counsel, for good or bad. I believe it was to keep Clinton’s lawyers away from the OIG report and focused on a false pretense.
Now the OIG report comes out, and many of these lawyers will find their names or associate’s names on them, and will scurry back and forth and the Mueller counsel will have trouble getting their lawyers in court during various motions as the OIG will have serious implications about disbarment.
Correct me if I am wrong but my understanding of Horowitz’s report on F&F was based on the Information DOJ would provide him. That there was a big fight over the information and Holder/Obama won it. So Horowitz never had access to memos, emails etc he wanted/needed.

I don’t think that is actually possible. Contempt charges can only be prosecuted as long as the defendant is actually capable of complying with whatever demand lead to the contempt charge. Since Holder is no longer a government official, there is no way he could comply with Congress, so you can’t hold him in contempt any longer.

Sadly I think you’re right.
It would be interesting to learn what the Statute Of Limitations says about being an accessory to the murder of a Federal Agent, though. It would also be a hoot if President Trump told the Mexican Government that this administration would expedite an Extradition request for anyone responsible for illegally importing guns and ammunition into their country.
I’ll bet Mr. Holder would become all kinds of cooperative if he were staring at a couple of decades in a Mexican prison.

IG Horowitz exonerated Holder on the basis of personal interviews. To paraphrase Strangelove:
Horowitz: I said lie to me, Eric—and you lied to me.
Horowitz had evidence that Holder was lying, but he bought the lies anyway.

The “see no evil, hear no evil” defense
Much of the media has moved quickly to close the books on Attorney General Eric Holder’s role in the Fast and Furious scandal, based on this week’s report from the Justice Department’s Inspector General’s office, headed by Michael E. Horowitz.
But for many others, the 471-page report is nothing more than an effort by an employee to exonerate his boss.
Regarding the so-called “watchdog report,” GOA Executive Larry Pratt told CBN News, “The wolf has reported from the chicken coop that there’s nobody here but us chickens.” (Click here to see the interview in its entirety.)
Some Inspector Generals and special counsels in the past have shown rare courage in challenging superiors who have the capacity to destroy their careers. Sadly, Inspector General Horowitz does not appear to be one of them.
Gun Owners of America has focused, in particular, on the pathetic two-paragraph conclusion concerning Attorney General Eric Holder [on page 453] and have examined its validity — based on the extensive knowledge and participation of Gun Owners of America, as we have helped unearth this scandal.
The Inspector General (IG) exonerated Holder, not based on what the Attorney General knew or should have known … or what he constructively knew … or on what information was provided to him.
Rather, Holder was vindicated based on his ability to misstate facts so effectively there was little to nothing for the IG to “pin on him.”

I am positive I heard a report a year or so ago that an F&F gun was used in murders in Mexico. Most countries would consider that an act of war.
How many of those crimes have the statute of limitation clocks still ticking?
