Socialism is going mainstream, and Millennials are the cause
American Thinker ^ | 05/17/2018 | Rick Moran

A headline in The Hill captures a significant moment in American history: "Four socialist-backed candidates win Pennsylvania legislative primaries."

The Democratic Socialists of America supported all four candidates, who will almost certainly win in November, given their lack of GOP opponents.

The DSA itself thinks socialism's time has come:

The DSA hailed the legislative victories as a huge moment for the socialist movement.

Arielle Cohen, co-chair of the Pittsburgh DSA chapter, told HuffPost that she feels a "monumental shift" after the victories, noting DSA's growing membership since President Trump's election.

"We won on popular demands that were deemed impossible.  We won on health care for all, we won on free education," she said.

"We're turning the state the right shade of red tonight," she added.

The "right shade of red" is due to a growing acceptance for socialism, especially among Millennials, and outright hostility and opposition to capitalism.

A survey last year was shocking to some of us who vividly recall when naming a politician as a "socialist" was a kiss of death – an indication of a fringe candidate.

In the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation's "Annual Report on U.S. Attitudes Toward Socialism," 58 percent of the up-and-coming generation opted for one of the three systems, compared to 42 percent who said they were in favor of capitalism.

It just hasn’t worn off the millenials yet.

And shows no signs of wearing off. By the time I was 26 I was married with a child. Any infatuation I might have had with Leftist thought was far in the rear-view mirror. These people are now moving into their 30's with no signs of this abating.

I once made the comment to a friendly co-worker that I had no respect for and somewhat feared the influence of “educators” in general and proceeded to describe why I thought that way . I did not know that his wife was an “educator” and of course he didn’t take if very well. Looking back on it it was kind of funny because he couldn’t come up with any counter arguments, just puffery. We weren’t friendly after that, unfortunately.

Millennial are not to blame. The EDUCATION SYSTEM THAT TEACHES THE VIRTUES IF SOCIALISM is to blame.

Also those supporting socialism/communism see themselves as dictating policy from their “dacas” not as a nameless corpse in a mass grave.

If socialism/communism ever came to fruition they would be just a corpse in a mass grave, i.e. useful idiot.

All they have to do is look at Cuba or Venezuela, which they won’t because it doesn’t support their fiction.

The left's gradual policy shift in our education system has churned out exactly the product they'd hoped it would.

It worked well for Hitler, Stalin and Mao, so the political indoctrination of the young has a long and successful track record. The average American taxpayer who funds "education" has no idea of the ultimate result of their generosity.

It's too easy to blame "millennials".

We allowed a generation to be indoctrinated by Communists.

This is a strange generation.

Thankfully the kids coming up now seem to be more level headed.

There is a world of difference between my 20 year old daughter and 17 year old son. Things are changing that fast.

Though life is certainly red-pilling my daughter.

Millennials are too far removed from Stalin, Mao, the Khmer Rouge, the Soviet Union, the Iron Curtain, and the 100s of millions of deaths that trailed them all. Worse, they haven’t been taught honestly about any of it. To them, Socialism and Communism are a “fair” and “just” form of government that we should all aspire to.

It’s all a matter of education, and they haven’t been provided it...

“GOVERNMENT PUBLIC SCHOOLS and the NEA are the cause”

Absolutely! Glad to see someone who gets to the root of the problem. :-)

Had nothing to do with Obama. This was going on under the Bushes too.
Parents send their kids to public school for the free baby sitting and don't care what they're taught. This is the result of ignoring the NEA and the teaching bureaucracies.

I am just looking for an east coast state that will be among the last to go socialist. Just looking for a rear guard action until I die. Here’s hoping my conservative vote will contribute to the delay.

Europe?

How about enjoy your Venezuela?

Venezuela has gone about as far into the shit hole as a country can get without being North Korea.

IMO, millenials are the next phase in the cultural Marxist’s (century long) plan. They got the fullest indoctrination ever due to synergy of Obama & the rats & the MSM.

We are at the crossroads right now — we stop this, or our America is gone. Forever.

Time is on their side. Every day a few more of us go to that great Tea Party in the sky. And I see few signs of Millenials turning right.

Well, I didn't mean to imply that your Europe comment was wrong.

All of those socialist countries in Europe are failing, as well, but have just not crashed yet.

Venezuela is in the last throes of life because of the Chavez-Maduro marxists following an ideology that has never worked anywhere in the history of the world.

It is a sad state of our education system in this country that the millennials have been sold a bill of goods by the idiots on the Left who think they can attract votes by giving away free stuff with no consequences.

It is telling that Bernie Sanders latest announcement that as part of his 2020 platform, he will provide free college to everyone who wants it, has been put on hold because he can't figure out how to pay for it yet.

A big DUH! for Bernie.

Socialism is going mainstream, and Millennials are the cause.

Millennials need to spend some time in one of those prosperous socialist countries and finish their degree.

I doubt there are any conservatives who would upset or angry of our drift towards socialism so long as it’s done with honest disagreements by honorable opponents through the ballot box.

That’s hardly the case though. We’re being pushed into socialism and globalism by a distinct minority who use fascist methods like censorship, censorship through lies, through the media, through the web, through threats of violence, actual violence, intimidation and ostracization.

Note the common words being used throughout the campaign and originating on American Campuses. “They make me fear, we’re afraid” when it’s been the left that’s pushed fear and tension through violent misbehavior.

I've taken Spanish for years in school and as an adult. I even lived in Spain for three years when I was a kid and learned most of it there.

Experts say that the best way to learn a foreign language is to embed yourself into the country's culture for a few months and you will learn it quickly.

The same can be said for learning what socialism/communism really is like.

These millennials should embed themselves into these socialist/communist countries, like Venezuela, and they will discover the reality of their "idealism" quickly.

Never question having to wait in line for days to get a roll of toilet paper or a bar of soap, to wise up to the lies these mush-for-brains youngsters have been told by their liberal college professors and the democRATS leaders like Hillary and Bernie.

Capitalism will be looking pretty good after having to eat your dog for a meal because the stores are out of food.
