One of President Trumps signature promises from his 2016 campaign was to build that tall, beautiful wall. Often, he would receive loud, raucous praise when he talked about it. Trump has been in office for almost a year and a half now. He has received expected pushback from Democrats. But he has also felt resistance from some Republicans. Both parties have been stingy with funding, leaving very few options. However, Sen. Bill Cassidy recently proposed a creative idea.
Sen. Cassidy suggested that money seized from drug cartels should be used to fund the wall. It is a simple idea that could work.
Asset seizures have been a method law enforcement has used for a while. If an item is determined to be used in criminal enterprise whether that is a stash house, money, vehicles, firearms, home security systems, televisions, or anything else, officers will seize the items. After the case is decided, the pieces are sold at auction, and the agency keeps the money.
Law enforcement agencies will also use seized drug money for buying new equipment or assets for their departments. They will purchase new vehicles, bullet-resistant vests, firearms, and other unique items that are needed.
Trump would be a fool if he didnt push this idea. He needs to quickly get behind this and make it a piece of the midterm election strategy when he campaigns. Immigration is the number one issue right now. Trump-aligned candidates should promptly make the Cassidy idea a crucial part of their campaign.
The border wall is estimated to cost roughly $21 billion. Cassidy stated the cartel transports approximately $110 billion in drug money a year. Trump was only given $1.6 billion in the omnibus he recently signed. That is well short of the $21 billion he needs. Democrats and Republicans are trying to impede Trumps agenda, leaving him not much choice.
The suggestion made by Cassidy is no different than what law enforcement does. The border wall is needed for security. Our borders are too porous. Border Patrol agents are being shot from across the border, and its happened more than once. Men and women that patrol the border deserve the best protection.
Trump has been stymied by either liberal progressives, or Republicans who want to make sure cheap labor is in the country for the Chamber of Commerce or the potential for votes. The Cassidy suggestion would bypass those obstructionists, and create immediate funding for the wall. Drug cartels will continue to move drug money back towards the border as long as they can, so that gives an opportunity for continuous funding.
A line Trump often used to irk Mexican ex-president Vicente was Mexico will pay for the wall. There are some import tax repercussions that American consumers would have felt from Mexican imports. However, seized drug money wont hurt U.S. taxpayers. It is mostly free money for the wall. And Mexico will still pay for it so to speak.
America needs a border wall. Cassidys idea is doable, efficient and will not drive up the debt. Wouldnt that be ironic if the ones bringing drugs into the country end up paying for the wall?
So the Mexicans ARE going to pay for the wall!
RE: Cassidy stated the cartel transports approximately $110 billion in drug money a year.
And how much of that money did the government confiscate?
Wait until Sessions wakes up to this and declares every kid with a joint is a cartel and seizes his family’s property.
The other source, should be taxing/confiscating “remittances” by Mexicans in the US sending “money home!” Go into any Mexican Market here in California and you will see a line at the “remittances” windows. They even have dedicated phones that go to Mexican banks to facilitate wire transfers.
They could sunset the program in a year or three if they feel it is an imposition.
Include bank money laundering funds on behalf of the cartels
DEA budget for 2017 was 2 billion. CIA is 15 billion they tell us about. NSA budget is around 10 billion they tell us about, Snowden says also 50 billion off the books per year. Homeland security is around 40 billion per year. If we could trim 2 billion from all the alphabet agencies we pay for it.

Good question.
1% would barely generate anything. They remit about $30b a year. A 1% tax would be 300m/yr. Would take 70 years to pay for it at that amount. 10% would pay for it in 7 (assuming the remit amount didn’t drop, which it likely would).
Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio have already proposed this idea.
The big money is riding on the prosecution of “el Chapo” Guzman. Billions in assets are up for grabs if (when) he is convicted/sentenced.
Wags have proposed naming a major section of the wall after Guzman, if his money does fund it. Since “el Chapo” translates as “Shorty”, perhaps the tallest and most imposing segment might be given that nickname. May as well have some fun with it.
I am OK with that idea, but I also like taxing the “remittances” or whatever they call the money the wetbacks send back to mexico.

Set up a simple three question survey...
Congress has passed a bill authorizing the construction of a wall on our southern border to secure our nation, but has refused to allocate the funds to do so.
1. If your personal or corporate donation to a fund for this effort was tax deductible would you donate to fund this wall?
2. If you you said yes to question number one, how much would you be willing to donate?
3. If your answer was no, because you simply cannot afford to donate, but want us to send a pre written email to your Senator and Congressional a representative, please enter your zip code here ______.
After answering this survey, the results week appear below.
Thank you for your effort to motivate our elected leaders to do their job by protecting this Nation.
This website URL will be sent to every member of Congress and to the Whitehouse so they are all aware of this effort, in the hope that a strong grass roots movement will compel them to perform their sworn duties.

If a tech-savvy freeper (I’m not one) is willing to create this, I’m willing to help pay for the costs of the idea.
To substantiate this offer, I’ve also just donated to FR.
If this is created, the media bitumen should be forwarded to every major news outlet and #gofundthewall etc.
