Nearly two weeks ahead of their day of nationwide racial bias training, coffee chain Starbucks is facing new accusations of racism after a Latino customer discovered a racial slur written on his coffee order.
A Latino man named Peter received a cold coffee drink labeled “BEANER.”
“En español es ‘frijoleros’, ‘beaner,’ you know, in English,” said the victim’s friend Miguel Acosta.
“He went to Starbucks, and they asked for his name, and his name is ‘Peter,’ and they wrote this ‘beaner,’ Acosta told CBS2 News through a coworker who was translating. “And he’s saying that’s not fair.”
Acosta said his friend didn’t deserve such treatment and doesn’t understand why he was targeted.
“Mi amigo está triste también,” said Acosta. “My friend is also sad.”
Patrons at the La Cañada Starbucks Wednesday were taken aback by the news.
“I’m shocked,” said one woman. “I go to that Starbucks almost every day.”
“He went to Starbucks, and they asked for his name, and his name is ‘Peter,’ and they wrote this ‘beaner,’”

It really is. The headline made me laugh. There are 330,000,000 americans. I can imagine one of them doing it.
Anything that causes Starbucks discomfort makes me happy. They have been at the tip of the spear when it comes to pushing PC nonsense. Now they can choke on it.
“Beaner”, as in coffee beans?
Not a huge deal, but people paying 4 dollars for a cup of joe should not have to deal with a racial slur on top of it. If I were the manager it would be no question but to fire the idiot employee. People think they’re being funny.

My first thought - Hoax
His name is Peter sure, but he probably told the employee Beaner, so the employee fell for it and wrote Beaner.
Maybe the barrista is one of those people who hear "laurel" when someone says "yanny", and mistook "Peter" for "Beaner".
WOW! What a blatant racist crime! The CEO of starbucks needs to go to jail for this! after he goes on TV and does an act of contrition, bows down so his head scrapes the ground, and fires the one who wrote “beaner.”
ALL latinos now get a free cup of cold coffee! The stores will be closed June 28 for a day of penance and retraining.
If there’s a lot of noise in the store, “Peter” can sound like “beaner.” And some people don’t know that “beaner” is a racist slur. (I didn’t.)
I remember in middle school, I went to Mexico and came back with a traditional Mexican vest. When I wore it to school, I got called a “beaner”. I’m 0% Hispanic!

OK, point taken. But what would be the outcry if a Caucasian was served a cup with “whitey” or “honky” or “racist” written on it?
He’d be told to “get over it” followed by deafening silence.

Except Cheech Marin is Lebanese! He’s just made a fortune being a “beaner!” BTW, as I recall he’s smoking a mixture of Maui Wowie and Labrador. Tommy Chong’s dog ate his stash and he had to follow him around for several days to “effect recovery!” So in this case, “it’s some good $hit” literally!
