It was said that if Rainier blows because of its height (14400ft), it would just leave a very big hole in the ground ... surrounding cities north to Bellingham would just disappear. Portland would be in ruins.

The north side of Rainier already disappeared and created the Puget Sound with the Osceola Mudflow. My house was built on it; you couldn’t dig down more than two inches without hitting rock.
