SANTA FE, Texas (Reuters) - A teenaged boy who shot and killed eight students and two teachers in Texas had been spurned by one of his victims after making aggressive advances, her mother told the Los Angeles Times. Sadie Rodriguez, the mother of Shana Fisher, 16, told the newspaper that her daughter rejected four months of aggressive advances from accused shooter Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 17, at the Santa Fe high school.

Fisher finally stood up to him and embarrassed him in class, the newspaper quoted her mother as writing in a private message to the Times.

“A week later he opens fire on everyone he didn’t like,” she said. “Shana being the first one.”

So, earlier we read that he was bullied, now we see the results of the combo of bullying and rejection. Guess the whole "Everybody gets a trophy!" ain't playing out so well.(Don't want the little tykes to FEEL bad about themseleves.) It seems there are a lot of kids who can't deal with rejection of failure. With deadly results.

But we live in a culture where everyone should get a trophy and everyone should make the sports team or cheer squad.

You must be referring to the NJ cheer leader issue. All or nuthin’. Perhaps we should just abolish sports teams all together. Can’t have any losers out there.

Kids grow up entitled and with no social skills these days.

So was every other boy at one time. But they don’t go shooting up kids. Where the f*ck did the kid get the idea that nothing is right or wrong, and that nothing matters? Eh? nihilistic liberalism, that’s where.

You mean other than that’s where the guns came from. Yeah, fairly quiet. Maybe he’s about to be charged for not securing the weapons. I know some states require firearms to be secured when not in use from access to children.

No mom, it was the teen not knowing or being taught how to handle not getting what he wanted. his selfishness pulled the trigger, no one or nothing else did it.

There is something to be said for having all-girls and all-boys schools. All this teenage sexual angst will have a much harder time manifesting itself.

Everybody is supposed to get laid

Someone said the kid was involuntary celibate, I sure was at 17 - not matter how I tried, but dang I kept trying and one day succeeded in throwing off the bonds of celibacy.

There's a strange subculture that exists concerning involuntary celibacy. It's referred to as the "Incel" subculture.

There are a number of groups on the internet where "incels" meet, like on Reddit and other places. Wikipedia has an write-up on the subculture:

Wikipedia Incel entry

It seems to have started as a means of discussion but has become a place where many young men practice self-loathing and perpetuate negative attitudes while avoiding self-reflection. Definitely a place where unhealthy attitudes can germinate

Then you end up on the “#metoo” list. Lose/lose it looks like.

He killed a young woman who didn’t want to have a relationship with him.

HE is the bully. He killed so many people! Because he didn’t get his way?

I am so tired of these mass murderers being talked about as though they are victims! If he isn’t the perfect description of a bully, who is?

Rejection has always been hard.

Now that 80% of the girls are doing 20% of the boys, it’s harder.

Some real lessons for young men in this.

“There is only one person for me in this world and she is that one person.”

Maybe she doesn’t feel the same way about you. Hollywood can be wrong.

“If I work hard enough, I will convince her to love me.”

It ain’t necessarily so. Hollywood can be wrong.

“I can only be happy with her.”

Don’t base your happiness on someone you don’t really know. Hollywood can be wrong.

“She will see the purity of my love and return it.”

Not everyone sees things the same. Hollywood can be wrong.

All the guys are after the top girls. All the girls are after the top guys. There are tons of happiness and contentment out there with people who don’t look like Justin Bieber or whoever the current female heartthrob is.
