I obviously don’t mean you, but I think it’s clear at this point that society is inundated with those who can and do rationalize any behavior or acts that benefit them and/or advance their philosophy or agenda.

I remember a woman being interviewed during one of the many scandals of the Clinton presidency. She said, proudly, ‘he’s too smart for them to catch him’. That encapsulates it all. It isn’t about what’s right or wrong. It’s just about what you like and can get away with. You can’t police all of society. People either have core values, or they don’t. I don’t think we’ve done a very good job passing them on (again, I mean the collective ‘we’, not you or those others in our society who do hold themselves to a higher standard).

There is indeed far too much of that. I think it’s important to hold ourselves to traditional Judeo/Christian morality.
