Donald Trump offered to ease ZTE sanctions to persuade China to help with North Korea summit
An inside source said that it doesnt look like [North Korea] wants to denuclearise at all as US officials worry about June 12 Trump-Kim summit

The White House has been rattled by North Koreas recent about-face in negotiations over its nuclear weapons programme, with US President Donald Trump calling South Korean President Moon Jae-in for his thoughts on the matter, an insider has revealed.
Fearing that China has poisoned North Korean leader Kim Jong-un against him, Trump also attempted to extend an olive branch to President Xi Jinping by offering to ease sanctions on Chinese telecoms company ZTE, a second source said.
The moves come with just over three weeks to go before Trump is to meet Kim in Singapore on June 12 in a summit that Pyongyang has threatened to pull out of.
Late on Saturday, Trump called Moon to ask why Pyongyang had shifted to a harder-line position, cancelling a meeting with South Korean officials and threatening to pull out of the June 12 talks, a senior US official with knowledge of the conversation said.
That came in sharp contrast to the more positive and constructive tone it held after Moon met Kim last month.
The call lasted less than 30 minutes, the official said, and is indicative of concerns in the White House, which has already sent an advance team to Singapore to work out logistics for the planned meeting.
Trump announced publicly last week that
he believes North Koreas tone changed after Kims second visit to Beijing to meet with Xi.

China will have to make a decision.
Trump is making it clear to them.
Who publishes the South China Morning Post? Does it have your trust?
If the US & South Korea enter into a peace treaty with North Korea & the US withdraws its troops from SK, I can see NK agreeing to denuclearize. But short of that, I don’t see them doing so. SK is willing to do a deal like this.
They sure havent got a clue about Trump then.
Now China can pick who its going to support in the negotiations. Trump knows that China loves to break our balls, but the reality of a trade war with us and ballistic nukes in their nutjob neighbor's hands will push them the right way.
If it fails, we're back to square one where the situation's been sitting for the last decade.
Somewhere along the way here, I read that ZTE supplied the Clinton cartel with their phone and are easily hacked... and later hammered. Just like her bathroom server!!!!
She somehow sold that info.
I don’t understand how the Clinton Crime Foundation has never been investigated. ....UM. Yes I do.
China is playing us.
North Korea (seems to be now) is playing us, maybe.
Our trade deficit with China last year was 375,000,000,000.00. That is an all-time record high. Between any two countries. Ever. And it is happening right now, to us, right here in America.
NOBODY has done a thing. Both parties. Everyone is sold out.
Except (maybe) Trump. We will see.
I don’t know for sure, that even he understands exactly what is happening. And I have been for the guy forever, basically since before he even announced.
China is playing us. Badly. Trump you really seemed to understand that.
Don’t fail us now.
We need to re-industrialize America.
For real.
Trump's adversaries love to exploit any possible misstep he may make. In this particular case, ZTE issue and N. Korea are related, in my view. I think Trump really wants the summit to succeed.
The SCMP is owned by Alibaba I believe.

I was just looking for the guy in particular who bought it a couple of years ago. Maybe someone knows, he is very very big in China. It does (not) merit the trust of Americans in my view, I believe it is 100% on the CCP side.
100%.

OK.
Thanks for the lead. Jack Ma of the mainland bought the established Hong Kong newspaper in 2015. That and his wealth make him the equivalent of a Chinese Jeff Bezos.
I didn’t like the tone of the posted article. It reminded me of the NYT/WP. Too many secret sources and too much intrigue.
Right.
Jack Ma. That is who it was.
Exactly.
I don’t think Donald Trump is selling us out.
I really don’t.
Sure the opportunities are there, but I don’t think he is for sale. If he starts, then to heck with him. But I really, don’t think he is selling out.
I really think he is the sort of guy, we want as president.
For real.

I suggest you forward your Philly.com article to Don Lemon and Rachel Maddow. They will be forever grateful to you.
I opposed the Clintons acting this way, and now I must oppose the Trumps acting like the Clintons. Obviously, for some people right and wrong are determined not by what happens but by what political party a person belongs to.
What do you mean by the Trump’s? There’s one president, one man in charge, and his name is Donald J. Trump.
This link that you posted does not deserve the time of day, unless you are a CNN/MSNBC afficionado. No constitutional conservative would read this tripe.
