I’ve never really been a fan of special counsels, even back in the Clinton days. I just think that they have too much power. However, after saying that, how can there not be a special counsel for this? We are talking about the DOJ/FBI investigating it’s own actions??? I mean this just screams special counsel. An investigative body cannot investigate itself IMO. The appearance of impropriety is just too great.

The only way to avoid this is if Mueller actually was a good person doing the right thing. But given he's a partisan hack only investigating Trump and no other obvious crimes, we did this.
