UPDATE: After the meeting, the White House said the Justice Department Inspector General has officially been asked to expand his probe into the FBI’s counterintelligence operation against Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

A statement reads: “Based on the meeting with the President, the Department of Justice has asked the Inspector General to expand its current investigation to include any irregularities with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s or the Department of Justice’s tactics concerning the Trump Campaign. Believe you are correct. Trump brought the release of Congressionally subpoenaed documents into the WH and required the attendance of those responsible for releasing the docs to Congressional oversight.

Yes I am.

But on reflection both sides could be described that way. The groans and moans from the Left drowns out our handful of Know-It-All.

Useless. The IG can't even talk to anyone no longer in govt. No grand jury's, no subpoenas. Totally useless bovine exrement!

That's the wrong way to look at it. The Russia collusion versus Hillary's destroying 33k emails is now a political battle. There won't be any prosecutions for collusion, a nonexistent crime. Nor will there be any prosecutions for Hillary or any staffers. Nor will there be any real prosecutions for the bad FISA applications, spying on political opponents, etc, not just because of what you point out, toothless investigation.

There will however be elections where people will see Trump doing a decent job with the economy and they will read the reports of the campaign spying including the several wrist-slaps or firings or whatever Horowitz can come up with. That's good enough to keep the MAGA agenda going.

Horowitz might be a little slow to set the tone by October, but I wouldn't rule it out.

The CIA will never be investigated to any great extent. The essence of secrecy is to remain secret.

A former Director admitted that agents/officials would lie under oath to protect the Agency.

Kelly’s eyes will be on the long sought documents.

This tells me Trump trusts Kelly and any funny business will be reported directly back to Trump.

Horowitz can probe and hand off to Huber the crimes.

News gets worse for Dems. IG probes continue into summer and fall.

this is good stuff! particularly the part about Trump FINALLY ordering these assholes to let Congress look at documentation that DoJ has been stonewallng them on ...

and unlike some others here i have confidence that Horowitz is a straight shooter (and STILL pissed off at obama who undercut Horowitz investigations during obama’s tenure).

in any case, we’ll know for sure when his next report comes out, the one about his investigation into the various fake, whitewash investigations the FBI made regarding hillary’s email treasons and clinton foundation quid pro quo payoffs for selling her SecState influence to Arabs and Russians ...

quite frankly, the Dems really ought to be crapping their collective pants right now ... their fake russian collusion and treasonous spying on Trump roosters have finally started their journey home to roost ...

Good! Horowitz will get to the bottom of this.

Likely a method to stall the current IG report, we shall see I guess.

People, including many FReepers, are going to look like such fools...

We would be thrilled to be wrong, what would you be if you were wrong?

IG as I understand it can only address those still working for the DoJ/FBI?

catnipman...I agree with you, particularly your comment about Horowitz being pissed off at obama for undercutting IG investigations. You must have experience dealing with IGs.

Horowitz’s report on McCabe was spot on. It documented McCabes crimes (perjury) and resulted in McCabe being fired, denied early retirement, and criminal referral. It is the perfect example of how a DOJ IG investigation involving criminal activity should be conducted & reported.

I am hopeful that the next IG report will be more of the same, with multiple criminal referrals. As I have stated on other threads, We the People will be able to determine if the next IG report is a white wash. If it is, this country is doomed.

“Useless” WRT prosecution of Brennan etc., maybe. Not useless for midterm elections if the IG report shows illegal spying on Trump.

But if we bag one swamp critter per IG report it will be a very slow process.

Perhaps PDJT can get on the horn and kindly ask Bibi for a few Mossad loaners.

This matter does not need an Inspector General... It needs the attention of a prosecutor. A ‘Special’ Prosecutor who can charge people with crimes, shake people down and force them to cooperate.

The soon to be released IG report will be enlightening, but it will also be nothing more than a report detailing the ineptness and likely criminality of FBI officials in the cover up and dismissal of charges against Clinton. It will not reach any clear conclusions and will be full of suggestions to avoid such a mess ever happening again. Period!

When they throw investigations toward the IG office, it’s to make them go away forever. It is not to actually have any criminality dealt with in the form of charges, or indictments.

“somebody needs to explain the limits of the doj inspector general to the president..did rosenstein and wray not explain that? deception?”

That’s why US Attorney John Huber was paired up to the DOJ IG.
That was months ago in 2017.

Folks here don’t get this yet, almost a year later.
President Trump knows what’s up.

The first IG report only dealt with McCabe’s perjury WRT lying about leaking.

The next IG report will be the one for We the People to evaluate. I expect that most Freepers know the extent of crimes that were committed in the DOJ/FBI as part of Hillary’s e-mail investigation. We will know if the IG report is a white wash.

If it is not a white wash, then we should invest in popcorn futures. If it is a white wash, where they try to rationalize the criminal behavior of the highest levels of the DOJ and FBI, then, as I stated earlier, this country is doomed.

The scale and depth of Obama's spy-ring is unprecedented in the history of the CIA--actually in the history of American politics.

Without doubt the CIA will now come under the severest scrutiny possible--as well as the other so-called secret "protected" agency like the FBI and National Security.

With a brand new CIA Director who has access to every file in the Agency, the American public can expect a thorough housecleaning. For those leftist, Obama-loving agents who choose to lie, there is a cell in a Federal prison waiting for them.

Our new CIA Director Gina Haspell posted a very uplifting Twitter message regarding today's meeting of the DOJ boys and the President.

Trump should have emerged from the meeting with their heads on a platter, and carrying a large sword.
