~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Blue Grass Army Depot, Kentucky

Blue Grass Army Depot (BGAD) is a U.S. Army storage facility for conventional munitions and chemical weapons. The facility is located in east central Kentucky, southeast of the cities of Lexington and Richmond, Kentucky.

The Blue Grass Army Depot is a 14,494-acre site, composed mainly of open fields and wooded areas, and is used for munitions storage, repair of general supplies, and the disposal of munitions. The installation is used for the storage of conventional explosive munitions as well as assembled chemical weapons. The depot primarily is involved in industrial and related activities associated with the storage and maintenance of conventional and chemical munitions.

The tenant organization, Blue Grass Chemical Activity, is responsible for the chemical weapons stored at BGAD. BGCA is part of the Army's Chemical Materiels Activity, headquartered in Edgewood, Maryland. The demilitarization of the chemical weapons is the responsibility of a third organization, Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives (ACWA).

BGAD provides munitions, chemical defense equipment, and ammunition support to the joint warfighter. It is the Department of Defense’s primary center for surveillance, receipt, storage, issue, testing and minor repair for the Chemical Defense Equipment Program. BGAD maintains and supports CDE stocks for deploying units and homeland defense forces, and is a training site for reserve component and other deploying units.

Howdy, LUV.

Still enjoying decent temps today or did the heat crank up again?

Good evening, radu...hope you had a good weather day. Are your flowers doing ok?

I’m going to have to water later, with my new nozzle.

Hey there, Kathy.

Yes, it was pretty nice here today. Not too hot with a stiff breeze so we didn’t notice the humidity much. Can feel it now that the wind has died down.

Flowers are doing well. I noticed one of the clumps of daylilies Dad sent a few years ago has a BUNCH of bud stems poking up today. Looking forward to seeing them put on their show.

YAY! You got the new nozzle and I assume the new hose. Just a shame you have to put them to use. Getting some rain would be nice.

Wall to wall busy, but I’m in pretty good shape for tomorrow.

A little homework will help. We will see what tomorrow brings in the way of corrections.

Sounds like things went a little bit better this week. As I recall, you were swamped with homework two weeks ago.

Wishing you all the luck!!

Howdy! Sorry it took me so long. I’ve been mezmerized by lava! LOL!

It was still cooler today, but by Sunday and thereafter, it’s going to be over 100 day after day. I’m trying to savor anything under 90 degrees.

How were things there? Did you get a break in the temps? Did you finally get some rain to settle the dust? So glad it didn’t rain on the museum event over the weekend!

I got bored with the same view of the lava and have been watching all the storks. LOL! Now the lava stream is dead. :-(

Yuck! Not going to be fun down there next week, is it? TOO HOT!!

It was pretty nice here today, with the high around 80. Gonna heat up again tomorrow through the rest of the week though. No rain today but we got some yesterday. They got hit at the museum, too, but late enough in the day the event was almost over. At least they got through Fri. and Sat. rain-free.

To: left that other site

Hurrah for spring!!! We are still waiting. It’s been ok, but the sun can’t make up its mind whether to stay or go. Overcast gets really tiring.

Awesome that they got so lucky! It could have been a real disaster!

80 would be such a blessing here. That’s about what it was yesterday, after the rain. Supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow. Yeah...right. LOL!

They sure did get lucky considering the weather pattern we’re stuck in. There were a couple of close calls but their luck held up until late yesterday afternoon.

Hope you do get some rain. There’s a big system west of you that should give you a dose if it holds together.

Howdy, E.G.C.

How are things in your neck o’ the woods these days? Weather behaving so you and Gizmo can get out for romps around the lake?

The weather has been really nice the last several days. We got to sit at picnic tables for several minutes at a time.

Yesterday, we saw someone riding a boat on a jet ski at Waurika Lake.

Oooo....I haven’t checked. Keep your fingers crossed!

Guess I’d better head out. I’m up too late. Again. But it’s HARD to give up early. LOL! See ya for quiz night tomorrow!

Great that the weather has been good. Sounds like it wasn’t too crowded, either, since you were able to find some places to sit for a while.

The wider swath ill stay north of y’all but there’s still a nice enough swath that should go over you IF it holds up tomorrow. Keeping ALL appendages crossed for luck! LOL

You’re up late indeed! I was shocked to see this post. Hope there aren’t any rude EARLY awakenings in the morning.
