Intel Uses Media To Report Informant's Life In Danger, Turns Out They Are Just Covering Themselves

Investigative journalist Glenn Greenwald on the influence the FBI has on the media, a spy in the Trump campaign and why intel agencies say it is dangerous to talk about these people as it would "jeopardize" their life but then tell us there is nothing going on.

Greenwald said Stefan Halper, reportedly an informant for the FBI within Donald Trump's presidential campaign, is a good example of this because he was already well-known as an intel asset. Greenwald said we know now intel agencies were "painting a fairy tale" since we know who the informant is and he's unhurt.

"We all now know who the informant is and we know that that was just a fairy tale, that he's not some covert undercover agent, but somebody who is a well-known CIA operative whose name has been repeatedly published in newspapers as a CIA operative and as a Republican operative for decades, and so the whole claim that the media was circulating on behalf of the FBI that this was some sensitive covert asset turned out to be a lie and The New York Times, The Washington Post knew that, which is why they did everything but name him by publishing all of the details to let us know who it is," Greenwald told Tucker Carlson on Monday night.

"You have people like Mark Warner and inside of the FBI and the Justice Department who don't want us to know the name of the informant, not because they're worried about national security, but because they are worried about themselves," Greenwald said.

Has this guy ever done any actual foreign spying or has it always been against Americans?

The James Bond thing is complete fiction. We have agent runners/handlers - people who communicate with locals working for us within foreign countries. Was this guy a handler? Good question. Most handlers are embedded with the embassy and have diplomatic immunity. Illegals (i.e. handlers without diplomatic immunity) are a great rarity because if they are captured, local governments will not be required to treat them with kid gloves, meaning that all of the agents (i.e. traitors to the local government) they’re responsible for might be exposed after the illegal handler is tortured for the information. Given that he is a Cambridge don, there’s no danger that the British government will abduct and torture him, regardless of what else he’s up to in the UK.

How is it that the Aussie, Downer, who contributed heavily to Hillary just happened to get into a conversation with Papadopulos in a bar in England?

This is an insult to real agents with their lives on the line.

Easy. Downer sought him out and entrapped Papadopulos. He prompted Papadopulos to disclose that he heard about the Hillary emails. That was all that was needed to ensnare him.

...since we know who the informant is and he's unhurt.

That's until, and when, Illary's name is mentioned. Then, he'll be Arkancided!

I think it’s possible that lives will be at risk. The fact that the FBI says so suggests to me that it’s not just Halper. There are others involved. They know that the exposure of these others will put lives at risk.

Here is my conspiracy theory: One of the “others” is Carter Page. If the Russians knew that Carter Page was an American spy while he was in Moscow several years ago, that would help them roll up the entire US spy operation in Moscow. It may very well be devastating to US intelligence, but what did Brennan think was going to happen when he used American spies to monitor Trump? I would blame it squarely on Brennan.
