This is more than a shift in the retail culture...

I was done spending with GayC Penney when the CEO decided to kick the customers to the curb and go queer. So were millions of others, I am sure.

My family, including my formerly teen daughter, have not spent one thin dime in there since.

It’s a shame. That guy was kicked out and the “all gay” and “gay approved” themes were taken down. Sales were reinstituted too. It’s back to what it was, lost customers notwithstanding. My wife loves that place. But it’s sort of a ghost town usually. Anyway the main alternative is Amazon and that’s certainly not better politically.

I quit Penney’s years ago. Their gay thing didn’t bring me back. They won’t be missed.

Mongomery Ward is gone. Sears is heading to the door. In five years it’ll all be Amazon, Amazon, Amazon.

I’ve been hearing about that policy change going back about 10 years. They must have never revised it.
The fact that JC Penny’s is swirling down the sink is unfortunately old news. It didn’t have to be that way.

So were aq lot of people=- Back then, the peopel actually got involved and boycotted companies like pennys that did crap like that- today we don’t organize in large enough numbers to affect the profits of large companies unfortunately

The same Jim Cramer who once bragged how his good pal Eddie Lampert was going to do great things with Sears.

Although retired, I still shop at JCP for clothes every so often. Their everyday prices are relatively high, but sales do pop up every week or so.
I was PO'd when JCP went through their ultra PC nonsense, but the only alternative I have for decent clothes is Macy's and they can be really expensive.

I live near a very nice, high end, suburban mall (Gucci,Steinway pianos, etc) and I go there daily because it’s a great place to walk.Particularly over the last year more and more of the retail spaces are vacant.I’d say that close to 1/4 of the spaces are empty now.

I couldn’t boycott JCP at the time because I hadn’t shopped there for years and they had nothing I wanted - and the stores looked like 70s rejects.

Even now? Haven’t shopped there for years and they still carry nothing I want. Stores appear to have been modernized, at least from the outside looking in.

at the same time JCP went gay, they dropped their whole sale/coupon strategy that they had been using for decades ... THAT’S when I quit going ... so did many more in my town, since they closed the one and only JPC over a year ago here ...

Cramer has the credibility of a gnat.

But yes, there is just no way old department stores can survive. Take a look at them in the middle of the day. Hardly a soul around.

Yup, hardly went there before the gay crap, but after, made a conscious note to never go there again.

It didnt help most of their stores were not remodeled to look like and operate the way they were advertised in their new ads, either.

Even after the homo-loving CEO was shown the door, their merchandise has not recovered. They used to be a reasonably priced place to buy good, basic clothing. I need Big and Tall, and most Penneys had B&T sections that had decent stuff. Then they went homo and had all crap that I wouldn’t have taken for free. Then they tried to backpedal, but they cut way back on B&T and still carry mostly junk. I don’t even bother to look there anymore.
