My dog would tender his resignation on the spot.

The dog trees the bear. Hunter comes up and shoots it. Similar to how mountain lions are hunted.

Because, unlike deer, bears are NOT creatures of habit...
Deer hunters can scout territory where deer move...They use trails to get to feed and bedding areas pretty commonly....
Bear do not...Bear mostly wander...It’s not unusual for a bear to go 10-15 miles in a day...

I used to bear hunt quite a bit when I was younger..I ran string of Plott Hounds...We’d hunt East Tennessee and twice a year we’d go to Ontario, Canada...

Dogs would strike a bear trail...Chase dogs would follow the trail and one or two guys try to follow the dogs...The other hunters would spread out about a mile or so around where the trail was found...The bear would either “tree” or it would keep moving away from the dogs and hopefully come close to one of the stand hunters who had spread out...

Hound huntil dates back thousands of years.

Why not?

Does the bear end up any less dead?

Animal rights advocates think all hunting is cruel and should be outlawed.

Every hunting season and the limits set for harvesting the game are derived from scientific wildlife management plans.

The anti hunters are not basing their openions on science, they react from passion. No science, just how they feel about a sport they know nothing about.

Alaska has laws guaranteeing it’s citizens the RIGHT to subsistence hunting. Wild game makes up the vast majority of protein consumed there.

Sorry, the Do-good idiots from the cities believe they actually know what goes on there or how they live, and want to make stupid laws that inhibit their historic lifestyle.

To force them up a tree so you can catch them. Bears are dangerous. Very dangerous.

They tree the Bears, and hunters can look them over, deciding if they want to tag them. Houndsmen live for the chase. As a fringe benefit, bears learn to fear people.

Gotta find the bear - rather than have it find you first......I don’t consider hunting a sport - no sane man will want to give the bear/boar/lion a sporting chance....
