Both world wars resulted from hysterical rhetoric.
“Hysterical rhetoric” implies it is all talk, blown out of proportion due to irrationality.
In the late 1937 the slaughter that was going on in Nanking was not hysteria, it was brutal, bloody murder.
And the attack on the USS Panay in 1937 was not hysterical rhetoric, nor was the attack on Pearl Harbor where 2000 Americans died hysteric rhetoric.
WWI was different. It could have been avoided by all accounts. But WWII was by no means caused by hysteric rhetoric and what was going on in Europe in the late thirties wasn’t either.
