I made this observation in the 1980s, while attending college classes at night. Most all of the history instructors I had....leaned to the right, and were conservatives. I don’t think I had a single left-wing history professor.
You were greatly blessed at that time.
Working since 1969 (retired last year) at two large universities, I encountered left leaning types with exceptions I can count on one hand. This is a People’s Republic sanctuary city, however. You guys are lucky.
