“Just think if RIGHT NOW we lost JUST Cellular Service for a 6 hour period- in the lower 48 !?”

Just a few days ago, T-Mobile had an outage in the Houston area for several hours. No calls. No texts. No cell-based internet.

It freaked out a lot of people.

We’ve also experienced weather-related power outages and store closures that lasted for weeks.

If these things happened on a larger scale, so that recovery efforts took months or years, the devastation would be unimaginable.

“Ask your family to try it for 1 hour. Turn Everything Comms wise OFF and observe.”

It’s a good idea to do such exercises to help make contingency plans.

The Powder River coal mines in Wyoming and Montana ship over a million tons of coal a day, most (to the best of my knowledge) going to electrical power generation.

Seasonally turn off your utilities, lock up the vehicle keys and put gadgets in airplane mode for a 72 hour test of your families ability to go “amish analog / cold turkey” per se. A weekend of fun for the kids at best with a wood stove for winter cold, swimming pool for summer heat extremes etcetera...... make em think each task through , learn how to use whats easily available to keep they’re routine normal and panic free, layer the resources and tools available regardless of conditions........ start self reliance education when they’re young.
