A group of veterans from the Vietnam War who recently met for a reunion in Florida are searching for one of their comrades who they only knew by a nickname.
'Louisiana' is seen in photos with curly brown hair and a goofy face and his friends from the war remember the warm personality he had during the dark times.
'The picture represents the beautiful grin he had almost all the time,' said veteran James Garvin - who took the photo - to WBRZ.
According to a Facebook post from wife Susan Waldrop Garvin, 'Louisiana' was a grunt on the ground, part of the Army infantry.
The photo is said to have been taken between August 1970 and February 1971.
'He had dark curly hair and wore a necklace along with his dog tags. He would have been around 18-20 yrs old in 1970,' the post reads.

It’s a long shot but I ask my cousin who was there about that time.
They only knew him by his nickname. Hmmm. Wonder where he was from...
It’ll be cool if they find him.
Yeah I imagine that was a rather common nickname too, but posted anyway hoping someone here could help.
Goes by Manitoba now, Louisiana is too hot and humid.
We had a good guy we called “Cajun” from Louisiana in roughly the same time frame but they couldn’t be the same grunt.
....if the group knows anyone else from Louisiana.....city intact them and ask if they could post their search to all the VFW’s they could find...along with American Legions...
Usually someone knows someone....
contact came out as city intact..jezzzz I hate auto correct
Hope they can locate their old comrade in arms.
The Army assigns to the battalion level. Just ask for the archives for the manning roster for that year and sift through all the soldiers from LA. Process of elimination.
My best Army buddy was nicknamed “ Tex”.
He was from Washington State.
Right out of Forrest Gump.
#5 is a riot.
