Does it save human lives? Human suffering?
Then I’m okay with taxpayer funds being used for this.
Almost any pharmaceutical that saves human lives and suffering (and Animal lives/suffering as well) is developed through animal research.
We have had an Animal Welfare Act since the 1960s. It involves strict guidelines as to how animals like cats are used in research and a great deal of oversight.
